The product, in the report: 4.5 Quart Oval Slow Cooker
The incident is averted but the product is damaged. The left handle is cracked straight through and makes carrying by handle dangerous. The housing slides around on the metal base and cannot sustain the weight of the porcelain bowl for long.
I am also stating that the product was gently used for nearly fifteen years and though I believe that the handles were badly engineered, the product was otherwise good and stable for fifteen years.
I have since replaced a damaged foot with a wine cork and the on/off knob disappeared years ago. We replaced the lid screw after the first one rusted and know not to carry it by the handles.
