The product, in the report: Elite Gourmet Slow Cooker Model MST-250XS. 1.6 qt slow cooker.
We were cleaning a small [REDACTED] and discovered that the cord insulation was cracked were it came out of the body. There is insufficient space under the pot to protect the cord from the heat from the pot and it puts too much strain on the insulation. Luckily no one was injured yet.

The product, in the report: Elite Gourmet MST-900D 8.5Qt Digital Programmable XL Jumbo Slow Cooker, Adjustable Temp, Entrees, Sauces, Stews & Dips, Dishwasher Safe Glass Lid & Crock, Stainless Steel
Ive had this product since 2021. I bought it from Amazon. I dont use it often. since 2021, i probably used it about 20 times and never had a problem with it. I always use the slow cooker on top of the electric stove plugged in with a surge protector, but Im always home when I use it. Luckily , i was home because it caught on fire. I have images. I was outdoors gardening when I heard the fire alarm going off in the house I came inside to a smoke filled home. Literally, the bottom caught on fire as I was entering and witnessed what was going on. The flame got bigger, so I wet the hand towel fast and throw it on top. It was very scary! The smell of plastic burnt is still in my house a week later: thank God, I was home!

I was injured when the Elite Gourmet MST-275XS Electric Oval Slow Cooker I purchased on Amazon overheated and exploded. I was using the [REDACTED] . It was set on low and running for about 2 hours when I smelled smoke. I turned off and unplugged the unit. When I began lifting the ceramic pot from the metal portion of unit it exploded . I was hit with broken glass and boiling liquid. My right legs, feet and flank suffered severe burns. Amazon is aware of the incidents of over heating and shattering glass occurring with this product but continues to sell it anyway. Several consumers reported to Amazon: shattering glass, overheating, and the bottom of the pot falling out.

No one hurt Made Jan 14, 2021, sent to the company Feb 5, 2021, published by CPSC Feb 22, 2021
The product, in the report: Slow cooker/ [REDACTED] style cooker
Slow cooker lid screw nut and washer fell from plastic lock into food cooking. Entire plastic lock mechanism fell off. I had to remove all the chili from the cooker and sift through to find the two parts to get them out of our food so nobody would break a tooth, choke or eat metal parts. Contacted company and they only offered a repair part if my product is still under warranty. No concern for the safety issue at hand.

The product, in the report: Elite 8’qt slow cooker in red
I was using my slow cooker barely 2 years old and hardly used. It had a pot roast, vegetables and a fair amount of liquid. I had started the recipe on high then turned it to low per the in instructions for the recipe. After about an hour I began to smell a strong burn smell from inside the pot. (Not the wiring) This was in spite of the amount in the pot, the liquid and the fact it was on low. It was at a high boil in spite of being turned down. It was very hot. I ended up finishing the pot roast in the oven. There was definitely the potential for a fire. After removing the contents to another pan I noticed the ceramic crock had a crack all the way through and there was some of the liquid which was dripping from the crack into the metal case which. It was likely the strong burn smell. I noted the crack went from the bottom of the crock all the way through but curiously inside the metal liner where the heating source is.
I called Maxi-Matic as I don’t feel this should be normal. They told me since it was out of its year warranty they could not do anything. And, I could send it to them for testing at my expense. It probably weights 10 - 15 lbs. If I had not been home, this would have caused a fire. It was overly hot.
