The product, in the report: Calphalon 4 Qt Slow Cooker

I used my Calphalon 4 qt slow cooker to make soup last night. The soup cooked on high for 4 hours then warmed for an hour. When we got ready to eat, I unplugged the [slow cooker]. After eating, I set a timer for 1 hour to let the soup cool before putting it away. After that time, I put the soup away, rinsed the [slow cooker] and put it in the dishwasher, and then washed the lid by hand in warm water. It didn’t even feel warm to the touch. I put it on my dish drying cloth on my counter to dry. About 2a.m. I heard a pop. I didn’t realize until this morning what happened. My [slow cooker] lid had just exploded -- not imploded, but exploded and put glass everywhere on my counter, window sill, sink, etc. I called Calphalon and they are sending me a new lid, but I am wary and not sure how the lid could have just exploded especially after than many hours -- what if I or one of my kids would have been standing there? It could have been a serious danger. I also just did some research online and I am not the first one this has happened to.
