The product, in the report: Aroma rice cooker (ARC-360-NGP) won’t shut off and starts to burn and overheat this is a really big issue as it can cause a fire. It has to be manually unplugged of the wall as it does not have a shut off button.
Aroma Rice Cooker Model Number AEC-360-NGP won’t shut off starts to overheat and starts to burn the rice I have to manually unplugged it off the wall to stop the burning. I contacted Aroma at 858-587-8866 and spoke with “[REDACTED]” whom informed me that the unit is out of the warranty and that there’s nothing she can do. I explained that this can cause a fire and it shouldn’t matter if it’s out of warranty it should be of concern but she insisted that it’s out of warranty. Best regards.

The product, in the report: Aroma Rice Cooker ARC-914SBD 8 Cup
This is a health risk! The Aroma Rice Cooker ARC-914SBD inner lid gasket and underside plate allows steamed food particles to get trapped between the lid, the screwed in plate and underside gasket. (There are two plates, only one can be removed to clean.) I wanted to clean thoroughly and so I removed the screwed in plate/gasket and found orange substance caked on both the underside plate and gasket. (Mold?) Calling the company to inquire, they said I was not supposed to remove the screws to clean the underside! I asked about mold forming and replacing the gasket on the underside of the screwed in plate, of which consumers are not suppose to remove and clean. They said the gasket can’t be replaced and both are not to be removed! I asked again about mold forming against the underside plate and gasket, but they could not answer. It’s a remarkable product, but consumers are being exposed to mold every time they use it.

The product, in the report: Rice Cooker 6 cup
I plugged in my rice cooker (Aroma Model: ARC-1266F) and the cord blew off from the appliance. It is a cord that is attached and it sparked burning my counter and just blew away from appliance cutting off my wall outlet. I do have breakers and it flipped the breaker. I’ve never had an electrical appliance do this. I have used this appliance maybe 7 times and it was in great condition prior to me plugging it in. I had a [REDACTED] mixer plugged in prior so the outlet was not defective.

The product, in the report: Aroma brand rice cooker model ARC-757SG
I have an Aroma brand rice cooker model ARC-757SG. It is about 2-1/2 months old.
On Fri 3/6/15 when using it at usual, instead of shutting off when the rice is done as it is supposed to do, the heat stayed on at full power and the unit starting burning the rice and smoking very profusely.
If I had not unplugged it, it would have continued heating until the rice caught fire, at which point it could have burned the house down. It would be a huge understatement to say that this is completely unacceptable.
Obviously this unit does NOT have an over-temp or over-heat sensor which would shut if off when the primary heat sensitive shut-off fails, as it clearly did in this case.
I still have this unit with the burned rice in it. I would be very pleased to send it to you for investigation.
This unit should not be allowed to be sold. All such products should have fail-safe circuits that prevent them from overheating to the degree that they could start fires.
This unit’s label indicates that it is UL listed. How could such an poorly designed unsafe product have a UL listing? This should not be possible.
I am a very experienced electrical engineer with some experience in electrical safety design requirements.
PLEASE take strong corrective action immediately. This product is very dangerous and could easily kill people and cause large amounts of property damage.
