The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

Made Jun 27, 2012, sent to the company Jul 9, 2012, published by CPSC Jul 23, 2012

The product, in the report: Samsung Microwave Model MT1066SB, s/n 00197DAW901484A, Manufacture date Sept 2003.

My Microwave (owned by my Landlord) has been going on by itself for at least a year if left plugged in. It will beep twice, then run for a while, then stop. When it stops, you must press stop before starting again, unlike a normal run, but I haven’t noticed any particular mode display. I’m not exactly sure how long it will run, but the times I recall seeing when I go over to shut it off quickly have been 3:05, 9:??, 5:??. It tends to run about twice a night, two or three nights in a row, first set for 3:05 and then again for longer if left plugged in. When it runs for 9+ minutes, which seems to be the max, it can be quite warm, but I haven’t seen signs of arcing (yet).

    Samsung Model MT1066SB, s/n 00197DAW901484A, Manufacture date Sept 2003.

I see on the internet there is a recall for similar units in [REDACTED] (I think 2 recalls, one for this problem, with the touchpad to be replaced, and another for another problem related to installation bolts). There is also a class action lawsuit [REDACTED], for [REDACTED] models manufactured by Samsung. I also see you have previous similar complaints on file for other Samsung models.

I called Samsung June 18, 2012, and was initially old there was no recall for this model. When I asked to report this model for consideration of recall, they took some information and said someone would call, but they have not called back so far.
