Hurt, care not known Made Mar 5, 2012, sent to the company Apr 6, 2012, published by CPSC Apr 20, 2012
The product, in the report: Microwave _ Free Standing
While consumer was sitting in his living room Saturday, March3rd, 2012 he began hearing popping sounds. He got up, followed sounds, couldn’t follow to any source and so sat back down but then began smelling a metallic odor, he went to kitchen to check electrical appliances or devices.
He noted smoke swirling through microwave door, opened it and smoke filled the room.
He unplugged microwave, opened windows and doors.
He had not in the beginning thought the odor to be coming from the microwave because he had not used it for over 12 hours and then only to heat a cup of coffee.
He contacted the number given for the manufacturer but was told only that the warranty was over.
He does not believe that fire should be an issue that would not still be covered and would like his microwave replaced or at the very least successfully repaired.
