The product, in the report: Insignia 0.9 cu ft. Stainless Compact Microwave purchased Feb. 2023 at Best Buy. Model: NS-MW09SS8 Made in China, Manufacture date: March 2022 for Best Buy Purchasing LLC
INSIGNIA 0.9cu.ft. Compact Microwave randomly started up on its own with nothing in it. Luckily I was home to pull the plug before a fire could occur. It has continued to do so if plugged in so I am replacing the unit. Read online that others have had this problem as well. It was purchased in 2023.

The product, in the report: Insignia - 0.9 Cu. Ft. Compact Microwave - Stainless Steel
At 9:00am PDT this morning, the Insignia-branded microwave oven turned on by itself. The time display remained at 9:00am while the unit was on. We pushed “Cancel” immediately and it continued. The only way to stop it was to open the door. When we closed the door, it immediately started again. We unplugged the microwave and plugged it back in about 1 hour later. It immediately restarted without any input command. The microwave had not been used since the prior day and there was no time displayed except for the time of day on the clock. The frightening issue is that the there was no one using the microwave and that the “Cancel”/“Stop” button had no effect. No injury resulted because we were in the kitchen and immediately took steps to stop it. Otherwise, in a wood-framed 4 unit building, a major fire could have occurred if we had not been home/aware of un-commanded action by microwave oven

Microwave (Insignia, 1.1 cu ft, NS-MW11BKO) purchased at BEST BUY , delivered to me April 2, 2020... started running spontaneously, nothing inside it. Was late in evening. Controls would not respond to any request, would not turn off, had to unplug. If had not heard it, would of run continually till....? Fire starts? Repeated this spontaneous running when plugged back in. Unit appears to be unusable and a potential fire hazard/ electrical hazard.

10/16/2022 -My microwave turned on without anyone in the room. I went to see what the weird noise was coming from my kitchen and found the microwave on. I clicked stop and the entire panel went dark, I thought that was weird and watched it for a moment and voila! It turned itself on again! Without any human intervention! Again I shut it off and again the panel went dark, I waited a moment and sure enough it turned back on. I asked other members in the house if they had touched it and no one had used it all day. As I was asking family about it- the damn thing turned itself on again. At this time- we deemed it a safety risk and unplugged it. We tried plugging it back in today (10/17/22) but it would not function. If I try to get it to run- it runs and shuts off. SO without me trying it turns on- with me trying it shuts off. I reached out to Best Buy since it is their product- I was told to call geek squad- I asked if there were any recalls - but the person told me to call geek squad- which I came across this website while talking to them and said that due to the HUGE fire risk that this poses- I felt it was better to report the unsafe product here so that no one has a house fire due to this model microwave. Note- I have only owned the product since 8/16/2021. Brand: Insignia™ - 1.1 Cu. Ft. Microwave - Black? Model: NS-MW11BK0 SKU:6359532 purchased from Best Buy 8/16/2021- the best buy person offered to send someone to look at it- but I repeated that it was a HUGE fire risk and they were lucky it did not cause a house fire- they agreed and then stopped the chat.

Insignia™ - 0.7 Cu. Ft. Compact Microwave - Black Model:NS-MW07BK0. When heating an item about 2 minutes into a 5 minute program the motor burned, smoke coming from back of unit. I immediately unplugged the microwave and opened windows to air out the the burning smell. Not sure if fire would have been worse if I did not notice the smoke & smell and let the microwave run the whole 5 minutes. Thankfully no damage to property or injuries.
