My microwave stopped working. After I entered the cook time and Start, the light would come on and the timer would count down but the heating did not work. I called a GE repairman that came out, said the problem was one of three switches inside the microwave and the cost would be appx. $280, which I declined. The microwave was purchased in May 2014 and was only 5 months out of warranty. When I removed the microwave from the cabinetry (newly built and installed in May 2014 as well), there was a large burnt spot on the cabinet. After removing the microwave cover, a burnt/melted part was discovered. Photos are attached. This is very concerning as it could have resulted in a fire as could others.

GE Cafe space-maker microwave oven ( CVM2072)installed 2011 started turning on by itself 11/18/2014. It has happened 3 more times. Each time it stops when you open the door. 1 time it said pasta. 1 time there was a long list of things . don’t know what it said because I just opened the door. I also own the matching GE Cafe stovetop/oven and dish washer. So far no problems with them

Around September 18th, 2014 The keypad stopped working but then the microwave turned on by itself while the caller was standing in her kitchen speaking with a guest.
She opened the door to turn it off then pushed off to be sure it was stopped.
She is reporting this microwave as a potential fire hazard and would like to ask that it become recalled.

Microwave caught fire while in use, melting shelf hooks, scorching interior and causing control touch pad to shatter. This is the second time since purchase and installation that I have had issues with this microwave. It is an over-the-oven model, three years old, clearly poorly designed.

This unit turns itself on and starts heating when no one is in the room. It has done this multiple times in the past 24 hours. I tried unplugging it and after plugging it back in, it did the same thing.
