The product, in the report: Galanz, Model: GLCMKA07GNR-07, 120VAC, 60Hz, 1100 Q, Serial #210109563, teal
I am writing to report a serious product safety incident involving my Galanz microwave and to request that this matter be immediately escalated to senior management, product safety leadership, and your legal team.
On September 22, 2026, at approximately 4:00 a.m., while I was asleep, the microwave was not being used and had not been activated by anyone. It began operating on its own without any human interaction. It continued running until the plate inside melted and the microwave produced enough smoke to fill my dorm room.
I woke up and discovered what was happening before the situation became more severe. The microwave was located in a dormitory occupied by hundreds of students, and I am extremely concerned about the potential consequences of this incident. Had I not woken up when I did, the continued overheating and smoke could have created a serious fire risk and potentially endangered others living in the building.
I am deeply upset and shaken by what occurred. An appliance beginning to operate on its own in the middle of the night while I was asleep, continuing to run until the plate melted, and filling the room with smoke is an extremely serious safety concern. I do not believe this should be handled as a routine warranty or customer service matter.
I am requesting that Galanz promptly investigate this incident and provide written guidance regarding next steps. I have preserved the microwave, the plate, and the related items and can provide additional information or documentation as needed.
I can provide photographs and video of the microwave and damage, the model and serial number, information regarding the outlet and surrounding area, and any available documentation related to the incident. Please let me know what information your team requires.
Given the seriousness of this incident, I am requesting appropriate compensation and a resolution beyond a standard warranty response, including reimbursement for the value of the microwave or a replacement, as well as additional consideration for the significant safety risk, distress, and disruption this incident caused.
Please confirm receipt of this email, provide an incident or case number, and identify the member of management or leadership who will be overseeing this matter. I would also appreciate written confirmation that this incident has been formally escalated for product safety review.
I expect this matter to be treated with the seriousness it warrants given the circumstances and the potential consequences of what occurred.
Thank you,

The product, in the report: counter top air fryer, with microwave oven
The consumer was putting dishes away dishes in the kitchen, when he tapped the edge of the microwave door with the very edged of a dinner plate. Instantly, the microwave door became crystalized and shattered. Glass was spread all over his kitchen.
The consumer sustained lacerations to his left hand, when cleaning up the glass, but treated his injuries at home.
04/13/2024 incident My closed microwave oven door glass, not being used at the time, crystalized. I accidentally tapped the exposed edge of glass with the edge of a dinner plate. The two side edges of the door were not protected when manufactured. I don’t know what would happen if the oven was running. As I moved the unplugged oven, the glass imploded. I cut two fingers while cleaning up the glass.

The product, in the report: Microwave oven for household use.
While heating food in a Galanz microwave, it and the entire room filled with smoke in just a few minutes. We were able to unplug it and get it outdoors. No one was hurt. There is now a residual smokey smell in the room and we are working on cleaning that. We did not see any actual fire, just the acrid smoke.

Last night, my Galanz GLCMKA07BER-07 microwave turned itself on and caught fire. I was sleeping and had not used the microwave that day. The product, in the report: Galanz microwave oven, blue Model GLCMKA07BER-07
I was awakened by my smoke alarm in the middle of the night. Upon approaching the basement, we observed a strong odor and saw that the source was the microwave oven. There was a fire inside the unit which was visible through the glass door of the unit. The microwave had only been used a few times and the basement had only been wired and finished about one year prior with all new materials. We were able to unplug the unit and take it outside with the use of fire gloves, where we extinguished the fire. Had we not been home, the fire might have spread and damaged or destroyed the home. Had the alarm not functioned properly, we might have become trapped in a spreading fire.

The product, in the report: Galanz Retro Microwave .7 cu ft., 700 watts in blue, off white, red and yellow
I called Galanz Manufacturer 309.425.2692 on 9/30 regarding retro microwave fire hazard. I spoke with a representative and he stated “that microwave has an issue with delay start button sticking and IS a potential fire hazard. We think there is an issue with the wiring and it does present a fire hazard because it will turn on accidentally. The issue is being resolved in newer models. I am sorry for being so blunt, but you asked a direct question”.

The product, in the report: The product is a Galanz Microwave Model # P70D20AP-A3. It is a small microwave that sat on the counter. The date of manufacture is March 2009.
We bought a microwave oven I believe from either K-Mart or Target, in Moorhead, MN and had the unit for only two years. Last week we went to use the microwave and the inside part of the oven closest to the powersupply was burnt. We have never placed anything inside the unit that should have not been in there, such as metal forks, etc. The microwave still had the digits lit up on the display panel before we unplugged it. We did not smell smoke or see it start on fire. It must of happened after we left the house. I talked to an appliance tech and he said that seemed quite unusual for that to happen. I do have photos if you need them.
