No one hurt Made Oct 15, 2016, sent to the company Oct 24, 2016, published by CPSC Nov 7, 2016
The product, in the report: Electrolux Homes Products, Inc., over-the-range microwave oven (model EI30BM55HSB).
This involves an Electrolux Home Products, Inc., over-the-range microwave oven (model number EI30BM55HSB) manufactured February 2010.
My wife was removing food from the microwave oven when the plastic vent/grill affixed directly above the microwave oven’s door fell onto her arm, then onto our stove top below. Fortunately there were no injuries. But had this vent/grill fallen into a hot pot of water an injury may have occurred, or onto an unattended stove top a fire may have occurred.
The vent/grill, made of plastic, is attached to the microwave oven with two (2) screws and two (2) plastic tabs. All four (4) attachment points are made of plastic and appear to have deteriorated causing all four (4) to fail.

The product, in the report: Electrolux Microwave Model TINSEB488MRR0
Hello, we have the Electrolux microwave with model number TINSEB488MRR0. I am writing to inform you of what has developed into a significant safety issue for our family. The inside metal edges of the microwave are razor sharp. The edge surrounds the opening mechanism. Both my wife and I have cut our fingers open on this microwave. Yesterday my 9 month old son reached out and grabbed this same edge and sliced two of his fingers open quite significantly. I think this is immediate concern for rethinking the design of this appliance.

The product, in the report: Over the range - Microwave
We own an Electrolux Over the Range Microwave purchased in May 2013. On/About the weekend of Oct 25 this year, the unit when microwaving a meal made a loud electrical arcing noise. We contacted the local retailer to alert them of the noise but continued to use the unit a few more times - sometimes it make the sound, others not.
Well, after they came to service the unit it was clear this problem is significant. The metal enclosure (parts a consumer does not see) are melting due to the electrical arc. I have the photos if you want them -- they are a must see.

The product, in the report: Microwave
Approximatelly 1 1/2 years ago I purchased and had installed an Electrolux microwave model number E30MH65GPS. Over this period of time we have used it numerous times and the unit has performed nicely. Last night we were using the convection function with the rack installed to bake two casseroles that weighed maybe 4 lbs each. This is the first time that I noticed that the rack supplied is a total piece of JUNK!!The rack bowed so bad we were afraid that it would pop out of the support clips in the side of the oven. This has got to be the cheapest, thinnest excuse for a rack that I have ever seen. The next time we have a need to use the rack we will have to reconsider even using the oven. The rack needs to be redesigned using a heavier gauge wire so that it doesn’t bow like the one that was supplied with the oven we purchased. Using such thin wire in an oven rack is an accident just waiting to happen.

No one hurt Made Sep 22, 2012, sent to the company Oct 1, 2012, published by CPSC Oct 16, 2012
The product, in the report: Electrolux Over-The-Range Microwave Oven
While preparing dinner, I used our Electrolux over-the-range microwave oven to cook a bag of [REDACTED] steamfresh vegetables. Immediately after hitting the start button, I heard unusual popping sounds from the lower right hand side of the microwave, and smelled what I would describe as an electrical motor overheating or malfunctioning. I stopped the microwave, removed the bag of food, and started the microwave again to see if it was a problem with the bag. The microwave again made popping noises and emitted the smell, and I also noticed grey smoke coming from between the door and control panel. I stopped the microwave after a few seconds and unplugged it to avoid any greater incident.
The next day I contacted the Electrolux consumer line to report the incident. Their first reaction was to say to call 911 if I had a fire, I explained I had not seen a fire and the incident had happened the previous night. They said they could give me numbers of a local service provider, but in general the tone (and statements of) the consumer service line was “we’re not sure what you want us to do about it”. I was appalled that they were not more concerned over an incident with one of their products that could have resulted in greater loss or harm.
The microwave was purchased new from a retail store 2 years and 3 months prior to the incident.

The product, in the report: microwave
On 12/31/2011 while heating up some soup on a 1 minute & 30 seconds when smoke came pouring from the top of the microwave and all power was lost to the appliance and the consumer also powered the circuit breaker in the off position.
The retailer was on contacted the same date and was advised that they would send out a technician to make the repairs. He contacted the firm and was advised to contact a third party service technician but the company was located in another state.
Three weeks after the purchase of the microwave in 10/2010 the same incident occurred with the microwave and the retailer replaced it. In 10/2011 the incident occurred again and the part that was the failure was replaced (part is unknown).
There have currently been no repairs to the appliance and the consumer has also reported the retailer to the BBB because of their failure to offer assistance. The circuit breaker is currently powered in the off position.
