The product, in the report: combo microwave oven with grill/browning function 1.2 cubic feet, 1100 watt, silver
I purchased this microwave at Walmart two years ago and it is not longer under warranty. Last month, just before I got on the plane for vacation, I was sitting in my kitchen and noticed that I could still hear the microwave even though the timer had beeped. When I opened the door to take out my food, the noise stopped but the microwave immediately started running again when I closed the door. I tried pressing clear and stop but the only way to turn off the microwave now is to leave the door open or unplug it. Thank goodness I was in the kitchen when it failed instead of on vacation since having the unit run for days would likely have ended up starting a fire. I knew the unit was starting to fail since it occasionally sparked briefly when heating things like frozen berries in the months leading up to complete failure but I didn’t expect it to go out in such a dangerous way.
I have read reviews from other owners online with similar experiences but it appears that it not been recalled.
