The product, in the report: Upright Freezer at Home Depot
Electrical short - Frigidaire 13 cu freezer model FFUE1326AW. When new first use when the compressor motor started it popped the GFCI outlet. Tried two different circuits with same result. For a test, used a non grounded extension cord and measured 60 Volts AC between the freezer metal frame and the ground at the wall outlet. This is real dangerous. Returned the defective unit. Same thing happened with the replacement freezer. Bought a different model brand and it works perfectly. Suspect the compressor is internally shorted to ground.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire Profession Column freezer, stainless steel
Frigidaire Freezer Mod: FPFU19F8WF We purchased a high end (professional) frid / freezer column (over $6K). Freezer started leaking water one month past warranty (April 2023). A repair tech came out and stated he can’t fix because he cant get to the leak, (Unrepairable, manufacturing defect). The water is leaking inside the unit and on electronic parts, could cause electrical issues and fires. I reviewed hundreds of posts on sales websites stating about the same issues.

The product, in the report: It is an upright freezer. Frigidaire Model FFUF2021AWD SN BB22606662
we bought a Frigidaire Freezer Mod FFUF2021AWD SN BB22606662. NOw we find out that once you close the door, you can not reopen it for 10-15 mins. This is like the old days when a kid could get into a frig and not be able to get out because the door locked. It dangerous. So far it has just been a nuisance waiting for the vacun seal to ease off but if someone got in there they could die before that seal eased off and they could get out. I called Frigidaire and chatted extensively with them about this hazard. They said there is nothing they could do because the unit is designed to do this. I don’t think this is right. An engineering change could fix this. what do you think ? Would you buy a freezer that you could not open for 10-15 mins after closing it ?hs

No one hurt Made Apr 3, 2022, sent to the company Apr 19, 2022, published by CPSC May 3, 2022
The product, in the report: Frigidaire Model FFFU2OF2VWO upright freezer
Our upright freezer has thawed in April 2021, Frigidaire sent out a tech and they replaced something but by the time the repair person got here, contents refroze. In April 2022, Friday night freezer contents thawed, called Frigidaire, sent tech who states this is a known issue. Fan freezes, then contents thaw as does fan and then contents freeze again. We don’t use this freezer everyday, we may have missed when this cycle occurred causing us to eat food that was thawed then refrozen. This just happened again and appliance repair person says this is a know issue with this make and model. So this has likely happened throughout the year we thought it was fixed. We are fortunate none of my family members have gotten sick, but this is the 2nd time we will lose at least $1,000 worth of food.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire Upright Freezer Model FFFU21M1QWE
[REDACTED] was dispatched for a fire in a freezer. Caller contacted Station #1 and call was transferred to dispatch. Caller stated fire was out but the house had smoke inside. Battalion 1 arrived on scene and found a two story residential with the occupant standing at the front door. She stated the fire was out but the freezer had filled the basement with a heavy dark smoke.Engine 1 arrived on scene and began an investigation. Battalion 1 conducted 360 degree exterior size up and nothing was noted. Occupants and Engine 1 opened windows and Engine 1 had a ventilation fan placed in the front door for positive ventilation. Building was ventilated for approximately a half an hour. Engine 1 and Battalion 1 investigated the fire. It appeared the that a small fire had originated in the lower front corner (right hand side) of the upright freezer unit. The owner stated he smelled smoke and went to investigate. He found a small fire in the lower right corner with it spreading to a garden hose that was draining the dehumidifier located on the right of the refrigerator. He stated the fire began to spread onto the hose. The owner extinguished the fire with a small portable extinguisher and a pitcher of water. Engine 1 reported the GFI tripped and cut power to the freezer.
Battalion 1 advised the owner to contact their insurance company and begin a claim to assist with clean-up. Engine 1 obtained freezer and owner information. Battalion 1 and Engine 1 picked up equipment and returned to quarters. Battalion 1 forwarded freezer information to CPSC via their website.

Emergency room Made Mar 19, 2018, sent to the company Jun 15, 2018, published by CPSC Jun 29, 2018
The product, in the report: Frigidaire 8.7 Cu. Ft. Chest Freezer 44” W x 24” D x 32-3/4” H FFFC09M1RW
On 02/27/2018 I had a deep freezer delivered to my home from Rent-A-Center located at 1926 W. Buckeye Rd. Phoenix, AZ. After the freezer was delivered I opened it up and it smelled like rotten spoiled meat. I called the location back and told them what was wrong and that they needed to come and pick up the deep freezer. They never came to get the freezer until 03/05/2018. By coming in contact with the deep freezer the following day I became nauseated. On the first of March 03/01/2018, I started vomiting and having diarrhea; the same day my daughter started vomiting as well, and it spreaded throughout my entire home and then to my entire family. We were all seen at St. Joseph’s Hospital here in Phoenix, AZ. the symptoms are still ongoing. I later returned to the store around 03/12/2018 and the freezer is back up for sale. With this defective merchandise this will cause an epidemic and spread illness.

The product, in the report: Freezer: Frigidaire Upright Freezer, Model#FKFH21F7HWB, and the Serial# is WB11141913
To Whom It May Concern,
In reviewing your online information undar “What is a Report?” I consent to your agency publiciling this report in your data base and you are encouraged to provide my name and this report to the manufacturer of the Frigidaire Freezer. I have photos of the freezer area which I am writing about, photos of my finger in its current state, and medical reports from a hand surgeon and orthopedic surgeon, who performed my hand surgery.
I currently have a product I feel is unsafe and in fact dangerous to any and all who own this product. The Product is a Frigidaire Upright Freezer, Model#FKFH21F7HWB, and the Serial# is WB11141913. The incident took place almost two years ago and is summarized below.
Upon returning from our Italian vacation on 8/29/12 we discovered we had lost power during a storm Including the GFI outlet controlling our upright freezer. All the food was spoiled. The next day, 8/30 I began the process of cleaning the freezer. I reviewed the Frigidaire User & Care Manual prior to beginning, put on a pair of rubber gloves and proceeded to clean the freezer. Once done, for whatever reason I removed the gloves and, using paper towels did one last “dry down” of the inside, and that’s when I cut my finger on an “L” shaped plastic lip that sets on the bottom shelf of the freezer immediately in front of the drain plug. I cut the right index finger and in reading the doctor’s description of the initial exam, obtained “a transverse laceration right around the level of the DIP joint crease of his right index finger”. In effect I severed the nerve and the tendon in my right index finger, which required surgery. I have since showed this lip on this freezer to the manager at [REDACTED] and the Appliance Department Manager at [REDACTED] in Myrtle Beach and they, upon touching the lip felt the sharp edge.
My feeling this freezer is improperly designed, and in reviewing the Use and Care Manual nowhere does it show this “L” shaped bracket or discuss the danger associated with cleaning the freezer. I feel fortunate I’ve only lost partial use of my right index finger. Should I have had to reach into the back of this freezer for any reason I would have had to reach across the “L” shaped lip with my wrist I believe I could have severed blood vessels and my accident could have been significantly worse.
I am providing 4 photos for your review, two of the “L” shaped lip inside the freezer and two of my finger as it is today.
