  3. First aid

Made Feb 29, 2012, sent to the company Mar 8, 2012, published by CPSC Mar 22, 2012

The product, in the report: My Little Steamer Go Mini by Ingenious Designs LLC, 2060 9th Avenue, Ronkonkoma, NY 11779 800/248-3002. US Patent No. D620208

I was trying to use the My Little Steamer Go Mini to steam out wrinkles from my shirt. The directions indicate that you have to pull on the shirt while steaming it to remove the wrinkles. Since I do not have an outlet near an area where I could hang my shirt while standing, I hung the shirt on the door handle and sat on the floor to begin steaming my shirt. In order to get the full effect of the steam, you have to put the product close to the fabric and slightly tilt it even though the direction tell you to keep it upright. As I proceeded to try to steam out the wrinkles, I tilted the steamer too far, and boiling water poured out onto the inner area of my left leg near my knee ( I was sitting cross-legged on the floor). I had jeans on and quickly tried to remove them, but was unable to do so before I sustained first and second degree burns (pain, swelling, redness and large blisters). I have taken photographs of the injury. The boiling water in this product can very easily dispense which makes it an extremely dangerous product.
