The product, in the report: Submersible water heater, Products official name was Laboomkey, but has changed manufacturers to Shao Guan, Changsha, [REDACTED] product aliases since the explosion and subsequent fire.
I purchased a Laboomkey/[REDACTED] immersion water heater from Amazon through my own account. On April 11, 2024, the product exploded during use and caused a fire inside our home. I went to the [REDACTED] hospital a few days later, and received treatment for smoke inhalation, and was diagnosed with other injuries. We later found there were dozens of 1-star reviews on Amazon’s website showing the exact same situations in verified customer reviews, along with fires and property damage.

Emergency room Made Nov 11, 2024, sent to the company Nov 14, 2024, published by CPSC Dec 6, 2024
The product, in the report: 2000w Laboomkey water heater
My wife bought a product from Amazon called Laboomkey 2000 watt immersion heater. I used it to heat a bucket of water for my dog in the bathroom. I plugged it in the wall and waited. After around 5 minutes it shot out of the bucket and landed on to a pile of clothes in the closet. The clothes immediately ignited, and my whole closet started burning. The fire department was called, and extinguished the fire. I spent 8 hours cleaning up, and suffered a burnt right hand, whiplash, and spinal injury with herniated discs and sciatica. As it was propelled out of the bucket it scalded my hand, and during cleanup lifting for 8 hours water soaked items I damaged my back. I have official fire reports from fireman that saw the item burnt up and plugged in. I also have been suffering with back pain, and am unable to complete my physical test for Law enforcement. I do have MRI, and extensive doctor reports stating this. I would like to help as many people so this never happens to them.
