A small piece of metal shot out of our garbage disposal with great force, struck a knife sitting on top of the sink grate, and shot across the room. The projectile shot out with such force it dented the hardened steel blade of the knife

Based on the serial number provided, the unit indicated in this report was not included in the recall. As part of our standard practice, we are in contact with the customer to retrieve the unit and investigate the issue. Preliminary information indicates that the reported issue is unrelated to the recall. The product, in the report: It is a Waste King L-8000 Legend garbage disposal s/n: 1L5-23039-59 It is silver in color with red letters for the name.

I turned on my Waste King Legend 8000 garbage disposal to use it, I was about to use it to dispose of Greek yogurt and soggy [REDACTED] cereal, the disposal made a horrible sound and vibration while a metal piece flew out. I immediately turned off the disposal and used a pair of tongs to remove additional metal pieces. It appears that one of the grinder things on the inside broke off.

The product, in the report: Waste King 1 HP Disposer

Within few months of installation of the garbage disposal, a metal part were ejected like a bullet and missed my head. No injury. Still preserved the metal part. Did not use the garbage disposal for a while. Then at times, we tried to start and shut off the garbage disposal so that it does not die down.
