The product, in the report: waffle maker: Chefman Model RJ04-AO4 120V-60 HZ 700W CONFORMS TO UL STD.1803 ETL LISTED YS INTERTEX 3103807 DATE CODE 1902 ACCESS CODE 3001512
I recently purchased, and then returned, a waffle maker:
Chefman Model RJ04-AO4
WAFFLE MAKER 120V-60 HZ 700W
CONFORMS TO UL STD.1803
ETL LISTED YS INTERTEX 3103807
DATE CODE 1902 ACCESS CODE 3001512 ====== I returned it because it is a burn hazard and should be removed from the marketplace until its design is modified.
This is a waffle-maker of standard clamshell design, but there is no handle on the lower shell. It seems perfectly fine and opens just by releasing the latch--until you cook a waffle. Then the waffle acts as a glue between the upper and lower shells, and releasing the latch does not open the waffle-maker. If you grab the lower half to pull it open, you will get burned, and with no handle on the lower half, there is no safe way to open the device.
I managed to get a butter knife under the latch and lever the sections apart, but I had to pick the hot waffle-maker up off the counter to get the knife in there. Because it does not open easily once the waffle is cooked, this thing is a burn hazard.
