White-Westinghouse electric 2-slice toaster, Model WPT-9570, date code 990523, UL Listed 99N3, 520092?
Within the last week, three times the toaster has popped the release handle up when done but the heating element has continued to glow and become hotter and hotter, causing the bread slices to become charred and smoking. Could only turn off the toaster by unplugging it. It was caught in time so that it was only smoking heavily from the charred bread/toast. No flames haD began yet that would have singed or caught on fire the newer kitchen cabinets above the kitchen quartz counter on which the toaster was located.
No personal injury---caught in time before toaster caught on fire
