Oster toaster Model 6307-000 started having a burn smell and then smoking. It was plugged in but not turned on and hasn’t been turned on in a week. If we were not home, it may have caught fire. The toaster was very hot on the sides despite not being turned on (only plugged in) and the heating coils were not red on the inside. The cord from the toaster to the electrical outlet was not hot at all. It was plugged directly into the outlet, no adapter.

The product, in the report: Red Oster 2-slice toaster with stainless steel top trim. Approximate dimensions: 10 wide x 7 high x 6 deep. Basic countertop toaster with standard slots for bread. Model TSSTTRJB07, 800W. Red color.
I was using an Oster 2-slice toaster (Model TSSTTRJB07) in my kitchen when I heard a loud pop and saw a spark come out of the unit. The toaster immediately shut off, and it caused both the GFCI outlet to trip and the circuit breaker to shut off power. No injuries occurred, but this was a serious electrical fault. The outlet was inspected and works fine after being reset. The toaster appears to be the source of the short. Im reporting this in case its part of a larger issue.

Our Oster toaster was not in use and it turned on somehow . It caught the towel on top of it on fire and the toaster itself became really hot to the touch. If we weren’t home, our house would have burned down.

I was using my Oster Toaster and noticed a burning smell I then saw that the toaster was starting get a little smoky and I went to turn it off and it shocked my arm. I noticed other times the toaster would have a weird burning smell and would get a little smoky but didn’t think much of it before. I believe it has been faulty since we bought it.

The product, in the report: Oster 4 slice toaster, black in color
On December 30, 2020 I was at my residence with my family when our Oster 4 slice toaster caught on fire. It was not in use at the time and had not been used for weeks prior to the incident. The flames from the appliance ignited several paper plates. The fire from the resulting malfunction set off the smoke alarms in the house. My wife used a fire extinguisher on the plates as I unplugged the toaster and threw it into our backyard. Smoke filled the house, as well as the powder used to extinguish the flames. I got a superficial burn on my middle finger during the incident. The heat melted the plastic on the toaster making it difficuit to determine the model or serial numbers. I photographed the item.

I received a Oster Toaster for a Christmas Gift. When I plugged it in and used it to toast my bread the toaster smelled and the outside got very hot. The smell went away but the outside of it continues to get hot when toasting. This is very dangerous can cause burns and possible catch something on fire. When I checked on reviews other people have complained about it getting hot also. Its a Oster metallic toaster with Targets name on the outside of Box
