The product, in the report: DURABRAND TOASTER..Model #TS-5221

It was this afternoon. We were home and the toaster hadn’t even been used. My husband noticed that the were were flames coming out of the toaster unplugged it, and put the fire out. The toaster hadn’t even been used. It just started on fire, no warning signs or anything! The fire burnt the underneath of my kitchen cabinets, and melted the tiles behind it. He sustained burns to his hands from getting the fire out. CAN YOU IMAGINE IF WE WERE ASLEEP OR GONE? So grateful we were home and not away!

The product, in the report: Durabrand Toaster Model # TS-5221

I purchased this toaster last year about this time of year from Wal Mart..it has gotten pretty warm at times but nothing we were alarmed about..Last night we’d gone to bed and within the hour our kitchen filled with smoke and the alarms went off..the smoke was so heavy going to celing we thought and the fireman thought it was our ceiling fan/light..

Nope, it was our toaster on fire..hadn’t been used in 2 days so we never gave it a thought with the smoke up near ceiling..it melted stuff around it and a bag of rolls setting by it became part of it..

I’ve heard of appliances starting on their own but never experienced it..from now on every appliance not in use will be unplugged..But the makers of this DURABRAND TOASTER..Model #TS-5221..should recall and make sure what they are making in the future does not do this..we were lucky that it is only us..what if our children or grandchildren had been alone here..BE AWARE PLEASE
