The product, in the report: Toaster
The consumer indicates that he woke up in the middle of the night to the smell of smoke. When the consumer checked his kitchen, he noticed that his toaster turned on by itself overnight and it was so hot that he was unable to turn it off by its ON/ OFF button. The consumer unplugged the unit from the wall, and discontinued its use.
The consumer contacted the Manufacturer and explained the situation under Case Number [REDACTED]; the representative he spoke to advised him not to use the unit because it could burst into flames, and offered him a discount of thirty percent off the price of any one of their products.
The consumer states that the unit is used once weekly; the Instructions Manual does not state to unplug it when not in use.
The consumer plans on keeping his toaster for at least the next thirty days in case an investigation ensues.

The product, in the report: Stainless steel and black plastic standard 2 slot toaster oven.
My Delonghi toaster model CTH2003B Serial # 90317 S900042 caught fire a few weeks ago. The unit was in perfect order and cleaned (no crumbs or pieces of bread at bottom). Fire was coming out of all sides.
I called firm and at first they seemed to not care (offered me a 20% discount on another unit). Then, when I made an issue of it noting they should want to find out why it caught fire, they sent me a FedEx return label to ship the item back to them (which I will do shortly) saying “Once your unit has been inspected, we will contact you with a resolution.”
