The product, in the report: Black and Decker wide slot toaster
I had a Black and Decker toaster, model number TR0012SS-RF. I was making toast early in the morning and the toaster caught on fire. I unplugged it and attempted to carry the toaster outside, but the hot metal was burning my hands and I dropped the toaster. The flames spread to a cardboard box and to the slatted wood closet door of my utility area. The fire was spreading quickly so I got out of my home. My home sustained extensive damage, and will likely need to be demolished down to the foundation. The city inspector is coming to inspect it tomorrow or Monday. I had cleaned out the crumb tray just a couple of days before. I was not using an extension cord. I don’t know the manufacture date, but this form would not let me say “I don’t know.”

The product, in the report: Toaster, 4 slice
Toaster started on fire. Not in use. Just plugged in on counter. Was used about 1 hour prior to starting on fire. Flames were large. Much melting of the product. The fire would have started the kitchen and the house on fire if my wife did not see the fire start on the counter under cupboards. Luck that someone was home to extinguish the toaster fire shortly after it started

The product, in the report: Black and Decker 4-Slice Toaster
Our Black and Decker toaster caught on FIRE tonight. It was not toasting anything, just sitting on the counter, The fire melted part of the toaster, burned a hole in the countertop, and scorched the adjacent refrigerator. My wife was in another room and heard a POP. She ran into the kitchen and found the countertop in flames. She grabbed a box of baking soda and threw it on the fire putting it out. If we had been asleep or away from home this could have been a disaster. Or worse.

Hurt, no treatment Made Nov 7, 2018, sent to the company Nov 19, 2018, published by CPSC Dec 4, 2018
The product, in the report: Black and Decker toaster oven model TO3000
The product, a Black and Decker toaster oven model TO3000, didn’t shut off while toasting and filled our home with smoke and nearly ignited. We unplugged it and had to vacate the home as my wife is asthmatic. This is the second oven we have had this issue with. Black and Decker replaced the first one under warranty but now we have had the same issue with the replacement. It appears this model is defective as the timers do not work properly and allow the heating elements to stay on indefinitely. It needs to be investigated and recalled. I have not contacted Black and Decker as they will just send me another unit and we cannot trust their products. [REDACTED]

The product, in the report: Black&Decker Toaster Model TR2900SSE
We have toasted regular toasted with the toast grade we usually use. We didn’t pay attention to the toaster as we turned around we realized that the toast were on fire. We unplugged the toaster and carried it from our kitchen to our patio to prevent that the smoke alarm would go off. This is an extremely hazardous product and could have set our place on fire.

The product, in the report: Black and Decker two slice toaster. Able to toast Bagels (special selection) model number T3550 Date code (required on their web site) 752eh
We have a Black and Decker two slice, bagel toaster. Recently I heard a noise coming from the toaster after my toast was done. I tried jiggling the main button. Hit the stop button and the bagel button. Nothing stopped the buzzing noise. Eventually I unplugged the toaster to get it to stop. This has happened several times now and I’m worried that whatever is allowing this electrical noise to happen when the toaster should be considered “off” could cause and accident. I contacted Black and Decker on their web site July 8th and received an automated reply saying it was forwarded to another site and they would respond in 4-5 days. I have not gotten a reply.
