The product, in the report: Hamilton Beach hand mixer, silver exterior with black handle and top

I, [REDACTED], was using our Hamilton Beach hand mixer to make cookies, mixed the cookie dough with our mixer and baked into cookies in our kitchen at home. After taking baking cookies, took out of oven and set aside to cool. All family members had cookie and my son experienced a hard metal object in his mouth while chewing, he spit it out and we discovered a half round metal object, sort of shiny and possible copper looking, looked like half of a washer. From observing exterior of mixer could not see anything wrong and no other metal utensils were used in the mixing process so i disassembled the mixer, shook it and we all heard a rattle, continued to shake and the other half of what looks like a washer fell out. very disturbing for this to happen. we have always used this hand mixer without incident, but not used that often. product should be recalled as soon as possible.

The product, in the report: Hand mixer

Caller stated that while using the mixer a piece of hard plastic flew out of the unit. She stated that the object came from the opening of the back of the mixer which landed on the table top. Caller stated that when took the casing off she noticed that blades were not attached to the fan and the plastic pieces were loose inside interior cavity.

Caller stated that she had made cookies using the mixer and is not sure if there are pieces of foreign objects inside the cookies.

Caller stated that she contacted the manufacturer and left a voicemail. Caller feels that this mixer is unsafe and should be reported.

Caller mailed in an update to the report stating, “Just wanted to emphasize that I recovered 5 pieces of hard plastic that appear to be fan blades (see photo) but that is appeared that at least 8 blades were missing from the fans. The posterior fan had all blades missing (see photo). The fan blade pieces probably landed in food something although I can’t be sure any landed in my Christmas cookies. However, I felt I could not take the change of serving them to my grandkids. I just threw them out. Also, this company had a problem similar to this in 1992 which was reported to CPSC and Hamilton Beach did a voluntary recall at that time. Although not the same model number as now, Hamilton Beach models 230 & 232 hand held mixers had broken cooling fans and broken fan pieces contaminated food & caused injuries in 15 incidents (Per news from CPSC - release # 92-043). I don’t think this company had done due diligence in re fans/fan blade.”

The product, in the report: Hamilton Beach Hand Mixer with Snap-On Case (62632R)

I purchased A hand mixer at target earlier this month (Hamilton Beach Hand Mixer with Snap-On Case (62632R) ).. When I used the mixer for the first time on Christmas eve i noticed that the cookies I made for my children were sparkling. I took a closer look and it was metal flakes. I looked at the mixer paddles and the metal was peeling off. I would have been horrified if my children would have eaten the cookies.
