How badly anyone was hurt

  • No one hurt 1 CPSC: Incident, No Injury

As each report says it, in short words; CPSC’s own words are under each.

The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

Made Dec 9, 2013, sent to the company Dec 31, 2013, published by CPSC Jan 15, 2014

The product, in the report: Electric Mixer

Caller stated that the electric mixer metal stem broke off while using it for approximately 2-3 mins. One of the metal stems broke in half and landed in the contents of the bowl she was mixing.

12/9/13 The manufacturer was contacted and she was advised that replacement would be sent out.

She feels that the product is a safety hazard because the broken stem can become a projectile.

In reference to your letter dated 12/11/2013 (copy attached) the consumer has saved/enclosed the beater (stem & beater) which did come apart while mixing butter and sugar. The consumer was extremely lucky (because if she was beating egg whites, whipped cream, egg yolks, etc -- anything liquididy at a high speed) the beater that broke apart could have caused to her or house injury or damage.

The only numbers I can find on the Black & Decker hand mixer are Model #MX217, U$#3062432. The consumer did not save the box the mixer came in.

Looking forward to hearing regarding the outcome of this complaint.
