  1. No one hurt

Made Mar 16, 2017, sent to the company Mar 29, 2017, published by CPSC Apr 12, 2017

The product, in the report: The product is a Proctor Silex/ Hamilton Beach single burner in White. Model Number 34101Y Series A2941BW.

We are a manufacturing facility. We use single burners to heat up wax or glue in small quantities. In our lab a burner caught on fire. It was immediately unplugged. After inspecting the burner and pot, we noticed that the coil on the burner was damaged, which created a hole through the pot where it was placed. Due to the petrolatum leaking from the hole, it started a fire about 2 to 3 feet high. It burned itself out within seconds. Thankfully no one was too close to the burner or flame. There was also a sudden loud surge of electricity and the contents within the pot splattered all around within a 3 foot radius.

We use single burners in multiple departments within our building we have pulled all single burners from this company and replaced them. We chose to do so after reading reviews that we were not the only consumer who has had issues with these.

We have reported this incident to the company Proctor Silex/ Hamilton Beach. They asked us to send them our defective unit before they can do anything.

The model number is 34101Y Series number A2941BW is our defective unit we had 21 additional units that have been pulled.
