No one hurt Made Nov 12, 2025, sent to the company Nov 18, 2025, published by CPSC Dec 3, 2025
The product, in the report: NuWave 1800watt dual cooktop induction cooker.
Nuwave induction countertop unit severely overheated cooking oil, nearly reaching flashpoint
On or about 11/6/2025 at approximately 1900 hours, I, [REDACTED], was cooking dinner for my family. I placed a 12inch induction compatible pan on the left hand heating unit of my NuWave 1800watt dual cooktop induction unit. The panels was approximately filled 1/2 full with vegetable oil. I set the cook temperature to 375f and began to heat the pan and oil. After approximately 5 to 7 minutes, I notice the oil had began to smoke. Using a digital probe instant read thermometer, i checked the temperature of the oil in the center of the pan in the approximate mid point of the oil, making sure to not contact the bottom of the pan. The thermometer measured the oil at 540f. I immediately shut-off the cooktop.
On 11/11/2025, ,I emailed NuWave at their customer service.email help@nuwavenow.com, found on their website, https://www.nuwavenow.com.

Hurt, no treatment Made Nov 29, 2013, sent to the company Dec 9, 2013, published by CPSC Dec 31, 2013
The product, in the report: Portable induction cooktop. A good addition to the kitchen “Precision (TM) Induction Cooktop” Hearthwear Inc. Illinois, USA FCC ID: Y74HHPIDC Made in China SN: Q1 1208-035-492 Model:30120
Item: NuWave Induction Cooktop - a nationally TV advertised device found also on e-bay and e-mail outlets..
Has worked well - does not maintain the temp on the setting but does hold a temperature. The device, when working safely, is a valuable addition to kitchen work.
However the device rapidly becomes dangerous. The danger occurred recently (item is less than a year old). The various buttons on the device that select temperatures and on/off/program functions is made of a flexible plastic placed that covers an opening in the frame of the control panel on the front of the device. The plastic covers a hole through which a small extension plastic piece permits movement (pressing) of the covering plastic to transfer the pressing movement to a micro switch on the printed circuit board enclosed within the control panel). The opening faces upward toward the cooking surface and is directly exposed to any liquid spill or boil over. Fluid that enters the hole drains directly onto the electrical power supply and control of the machine. The hole is approximately 1 1/2 Cm in diameter. It slants from the spill over surface and directs liquid into the control compartment.
The plastic cover becomes brittle with age and cracks. In this case the age is less than one year. When cracked, the crack increases in size and shape in a day or two and opens completely to the size of the frame’s hole that it has previously covered. 1 - 1 1/2 cm diameter.
I have reported this defect to the Nu Wave information service that I have addresses for I have had no response from that organization. I have reported it to some consumer safety organizations. No response has returned. I am uncertain that I have found a correct address for reporting.
This information should be available to purchasers so that the hole can be covered. I have no information how the company can or will repair the defect.
[REDACTED]
A boil over or a spill causes shortages and becomes electrically charged moisture on the surface.
To prevent being shocked painfully, It become necessary to cover the hole with a sturdy adhesive tape. When this loss of cover to the electrical circuits occurs the machine is no longer safe at all for children older people who cannot move rapidly or quickly pickup a heavy object.
