No one hurt Made Mar 8, 2014, sent to the company Mar 18, 2014, published by CPSC Apr 1, 2014
The product, in the report: Crofton Model WJ-056 Electric Griddle
While using a Crofton Family Size Electrical Griddle Item # 9660-06, Model WJ-056 on the morning of March 1, 2014 the unit began to emit smoke smelling of electrical burning and the temperature probe end of the power cord became hot to the touch and started smoking. The unit was immediately unplugged and the smoke stopped and the temperature probe cooled down.
Examination of the unit revealed that the metal encased heating element that runs around the bottom of the unit was swollen and bulged at one point for about one inch of its length.
I have contacted the distributor of the unit, Wachsmuth & Krogmann Inc 1800 Nicholas Blvd Elk Grove Village, IL 1-888-367-7373, www.wk-usa.com the same day via e-mail.
A few days later a representative of the company called me and asked if I would return the unit to them for inspection. They are sending me a shipping label.
Should I return the unit to them.
Please advise.
