The product, in the report: 48” Free Standing Range, Bertazzoni 48” Professional Range Model X48 6G GGV X. 6-Bruner Natural Gas, Electric Griddle, Dual Gas Ovens
There was a grease fire on the griddle assembly. The fire was extinguished using a fire extinguisher.
The griddle design allows the grease to roll back under the griddle surface and drip on the heating elements. Subsequently, we have raised the back of the griddle up by resting it on the back of the griddle “hole,” and this helps, but grease still drips down the edges of the grease tray and puddles under it, then drips down the front face of the oven (inside the door) all the way to the floor.
A service technician has been out and determined that the unit is properly installed.
A Bertazzoni representative suggested raising screws in the back of the griddle burner assembly, but this would lead to further issues, such as batter flowing down the griddle since it is not flat.
The griddle needs a method to force the grease to drip into the grease tray and keep it from rolling back. Additionally, the grease tray needs to be wider than the griddle so that it doesn’t drip on the sides of the tray and down its sides.
