The product, in the report: Bella Griddle Model TXG-621 Item 35114

In using the electric griddle product I have inadvertently burned the wrist of my hand on the heated metal edge of the griddle. I have used the product a number of times in cooking bacon, griddling fajita and quesadilla flats. The burn has been severe and even with the greatest of care it happens more often than is acceptable. The griddle should have at least a plastic and heat isolated frame to protect the chef’s wrist.

The product, in the report: Bella Housewares electric 2-N-1 Non-Stick Reversible Grill/Griddle. Black plastic frame with a dark grey griddle/grill. Approx. Size: 20.5” x 13” x 3.5”.

    Bella 2-N-1 Non-Stick Reversible Grill/Griddle. Model TSK-2399N Item # 14534 Bought Aug 6, 2017 from Walmart.

On July 15, 2018 my wife had cooked on the griddle. I was wiping down the griddle with a paper towel when I sliced my right index finger open. I was unaware there was a razor sharp piece of metal between the griddle and the handles. I do not know if it is a design flaw or a production flaw. The metal sticks up to the top of the handle. It is the same on both handles. Since it was late in the evening, I debated on whether to go to the urgent care clinic. I ultimately decided to visit my primary care doctor the next morning. My doctor said that I was lucky that I did not cut any tendons. I received a tetanus shot and my finger was bandaged. My skin has healed but the nerves in my fingertip have not fully healed.

The product, in the report: Bella Ceramic 10.5” x 20” Griddle

The submitter received the griddle as a Christmas gift last year and she used it for the first time on May 20.

The submitter used the griddle to cook link sausages. She set the temperature between 200 and 250 degrees. She said the griddle was on for about 5 minutes when she went to grab the handle with her left hand and burned her left middle finger. The submitter indicated that the handles are plastic. The submitter then disconnected the griddle and put it outside.

The submitter treated her burn injuries.

The submitter said she read the manual and it states in the manual that you can use the handles to move the griddle.

The submitter called the firm today and informed them of the incident. The submitter said the Rep. (name unknown) told her that she was not supposed to touch the handles. The submitter said the Rep. was rude and the submitter requested to speak with a Supervisor. The Rep. transferred the submitter to the Supervisor’s voicemail and she left a voicemail. The submitter said she received a call back today from the Team Lead, [REDACTED]. The submitter was offered a credit of $30 so she could use towards another product. However, the submitter does not believes their product is safe and does not want the credit. The submitter was told that she can call back if she changed her mind and wanted the credit.
