The product, in the report: Coffee mug warmer
While rearranging some furniture, a Raccoon model GY50-233 coffee mug warmer fell onto the floor unnoticed. The mug warmer was turned off at the time it was dropped on the floor upside down and when it was noticed about 90 minutes later it was picked up to reveal that it turned itself on and had scorched the floor where it was in contact (photo upon request). Prior to this incident, I had suspected that the unit apparently did not have a safety turn-off timer or if it did, I saw no evidence that it was functioning. I also noticed that the unit seemed to turn itself on with only slight contact. Adding to this, the unit has three levels of heat and the turn-on state was the maximum heat setting which is hot enough to burn one’s finger should it make contact. On another occasion, the unit singed a carelessly placed paper towel. I feel that this item poses an unacceptable threat of fire or personal injury and should be fixed or taken off the market.
