The product, in the report: Presto 8-Quart Big Kettle, Steamer and Deep Fryer Multi-Cooker, Black

On November 21, 2024, we purchased Presto 8-Quart Big Kettle, Steamer and Deep Fryer Multi-Cooker, Black, from Amazon. Thursday, December 5, 2025, my husband and I took the deep fryer out to fry some french fries. The basket handle on the fryer came loose from the basket, and it splattered hot grease all over our kitchen counter. There were no injuries - - - just a big grease mess to clean up. We reported the incident today via chat to Amazon, who stated that it would be escalated to the appropriate department for possible recall and that we will hear back via an email within 24-28 hours.

The cords on these presto brand deep fryers are dangerous after only a dozen uses they start to heat up as fast as the oil in the pot, this is the third one ive purchased over three years and every time the cords start to melt after a dozen uses now im sure its a bad product with a [REDACTED] ul rating im sure someone has had a fire and been dismissed as they made a mistake but i was reading the temp on the cord and it got to 125f in about 4 min. At this point i will never buy this product again the cords on their products are definitely defective, i believe this is worth checking into because I’m not sure if other consumers even notice till its too late
