The product, in the report: GE Deep fryer model 169219 As pictured here https://www.amazon.com/s/field-keywords=B004ZBFZIW
The machine was switched on with cold oil in it to prepare it for cooking that night, but there no food in it as of yet. After roughly 15 minutes, a “burning plastic” smell was first noticed. Upon approaching the machine from the front on the counter in which it sits, there was some mild but concerning smoke coming from behind the machine. Upon checking the back of the machine, there was electrical sparking/arcing coming from the magnetic power cord anti knock over socket on the back of the unit. The unit was then disconnected from the wall outlet ending the arcing.
No Injuries or property damage occured by this incident.
