The product, in the report: DeLonghi D895UX Cool-Touch ROTO Electric 1-1/2-Pound-Capacity Food Fryer

I own the Delonghi D895UX Deep Fryer as seen here: http://www.amazon.com/DeLonghi-D895UX-Cool-Touch-Electric-2-Pound-Capacity/dp/B00004RGAW

This unit has a rubber drain hose that during normal operation is bent 90degrees upwards with a stopper in the end to keep oil from draining. I have owned the unit approximately 5 years with minimal usage. By design the rubber tube is bent, and at that bend the rubber tube has now cracked right at the bend. I luckily noticed this when draining unit. But I am not sure when the crack started. The problem that could easily occur is that while using the unit at temperatures up to 370 degrees F. the oil could start leaking out the bottom front onto ones counter top, floor... and on a person who tries to stop the flood of burning oil. I can’t imagine someones response to try and mitigate the leak would cause. I contacted the company, they said that part was not allowed for consumer repair, and I would have to send the unit to them for repair at 100% my cost. I told them that I believed this was a design flaw and a serious hazard, they did not offer to fix at their expense, stating that the warranty was over. I believe this should be considered for a recall due to high potential for burn/fire hazard. If you search about this fryer and leaking, it does bring up other reviews about this problem.
