The product, in the report: Stainless Steel West Bend 42-cup coffee urn, Model 58002

A coworker made coffee in our West Bend stainless steel coffee urn, and a few minutes into its cycle he heard a sizzling, sparkler, kind of sound. He looked, saw a poof of approximately 1 1/2” flame coming from the back of urn. It quickly extinguished itself. He unplugged the maker and I reported it to West Bend.

The product, in the report: West Bend 30 cup coffee urn

While using a west bend 30 cup coffee urn the electrical cord and plug ends got extremely hot and gave off an electrical burning smell. THe cord was so hot you could not touch it to disconnect. It stayed hot for a long time after unplugging. I believe that it would have eventually caught fire if we had not noticed the smell and investigated.
