Dear [REDACTED],: I am in receipt of your letter dated June 13, 2019. Jn it you apologize saying you are sorry J had a disagreeable experience. That, [REDACTED], is an understatement. I was burned by your creamer. That is more than disagreeable. A representative from your company called offering me $20. I explained to him that what I want is to know what you are doing to remedy this “disagreeable” experience!!!!! He said it was caused by residue. I have seen online and spoken with friends who have had problems with the creamer since you switched to a smaller disc. This is dangerous. Personally, I have had to discard at least 10 discs because there is something wrong with them. Several spewed hot milk out of the machine. After I received the burn, I stayed away from the coffee maker while It was brewing. Instead of saying the problem will be corrected, you refuse any responsibility. These incident concerns the Tassimo coffee brewing system, and milk pods/discs for their Cappuccino products that recently stopped working correctly and created a major safety issue caused by the explosion of the milk pods/discs during brewing, and causing hot steam and milk to spray outwards from the coffee machine.
Last week I bought new milk discs for my Tassimo brewing system (which I’ve had for several years without problem - at least until,these defective milk pods). started experiencing problems right away when I placed the milk pods/discs into the machine, and started the brewing process. Immediately I could hear that something was not right because the machine was making strange noises I’ve never heard before, and I could tell that there was no hot milk going into the cup as it’s supposed to do. Thus, it seems like the pressure in the machine was building up and not passing through the milk disc like it was supposed to. I finally turned the machine off, and tried to open the Tassimo machine — whereupon there was an explosive release of steam and splashing of hot milk. I was not injured, but I easily could have been if the steam or hot milk had hit my face.
I thought that I mush have received a bad disc, or a bad box of milk discs. So I opened another package of milk discs, and tried them....only to have the same thing happen yet again (although I stopped the process earlier to avoid any explosion I’d milk and steam, and I waited for the machine to cool down again before opening it. I tried this process two more times with milk discs from the same and from different packages I had, and ALL of the milk discs seemed defective. However, when I tried using other types of discs (or, coffee/espresso discs) in the machine, there was no problem whatsoever.
Upon checking the company’s website reviews for this same product (specifically “Tassimo Cappuccino Foaming Milk Creamer”), I discovered that the Gevalia/Tassimo company has been receiving complaints about these “exploding milk pods/discs” for approximately 6 month’s (i.e., since the end of 2017).
However, there was nothing posted anywhere by the company in response to these customer reviews, and instead they simply replied by asking the customer to call them. I tried posting two separate reviews with my experience, but both times I received an email from the company (which I cannot reply to) that stated my review “did not meet their website guidelines” due to “legally sensitive matter” (although there is nothing in their website guidelines that says anything against posting experience with my exploding milk discs, or against posting “legally sensitive material”.

The product, in the report: TAssimo coffee brewing system. These coffee makers use a specific coffee pod called a T-disc and the particular pods having issues are their Cappuccino creamer pods which must have been manufactured with a defect that doesn’t allow hot liquid to flow out properly, so it explodes and expels hot liquid out the front of the machine. I will add the upc of the T-Disc package and not the coffee maker itself since the sefect is with the pods and not the coffee maker.
Product is specifically TAssimo brand Cappuccino T-disc pods that are defective. I contacted TAssimo customer service and was told they have had reports of these specific t-discs exploding due to the pods not allowing hot liquid to expel into coffee cup. Pressure of hot water builds up, you can hear the coffe maker stressing and popping and then hot contents are sprayed out toward the user, me! I was told they would do nothing about my ruined coffee maker due to it being outside the 1 year warranty. But more disturbing, they told me to either discard the discs or take them back to the place of purchase which is Bed Bath Beyond. This store is aware of the issues and clearances the defective discs which I purchased not being aware they are defective and possibly dangerous. The company customer service rep ([REDACTED]) told me they have had several recent reports of the pods exploding. So much pressure builds up that it damaged my coffee maker and I had mess to clean up, but luckily I wasn’t standing at the time where the creamer pod blew up avoiding getting burned. They were completely disinterested in the issue, and I was given a supervisor to talk to ([REDACTED]) and a case #[REDACTED].

We purchased the above referenced coffee maker in anticipation of relocating to the beach after my husband’s retirement. However, we decided not to relocate until I retired last month, and therefore, kept this item in the carton to provide ease in moving. When we unpacked it last weekend, as we were moving in, we placed the pod in as directed and were surprised with a shower of water all over the counter. Thankfully, we were not near the coffeemaker and did not get burned. We cleaned up the “explosion” and made sure that we had inserted it correctly and tried again, but the same occurred. We are certain that the pods were inserted properly since we have one of these at our office and it works in the same fashion and has never given this problem. We would, therefore, like to return this for a credit or for an exchange of a similar coffeemaker, perhaps a [REDACTED], without the pod, since this seems to be the culprit. We could then continue to enjoy our favorite Gevalia coffees since they, too, are available [REDACTED].
We talked with another couple in our new neighborhood and were advised that they, too, had a similar problem with their Tassimo T20 and were able to return it to the store where they purchased it and were allowed to exchange this for one with k-cups in lieu of the pod. We shall await your direction. We still have all the packaging and complimentary colored inserts unopened in packages, which would be returned along with the coffeemaker. We you please issue a return authorization and if you would be so kind, provide a return label for this item.

The Tassimo by Braun single serve coffee maker was plugged in to the wall as it says it can in the manual. After 4 months of use it was on the counter and from my room I smelled an elecrical burning odor and started to look for it. I arrived in the kitchen to find the odor coming from the cord of the Tassimo near the plug. The Plug is a GFI since it is in the kitchen. I unplugged the cord witch was hot and left it unplugged. I have not used it since and do not plan to because of my concern it will start a fire in my home. The back water tank was 1 cup under the MAX fill line and there was not a disc in the machine. There were no injuries because I was home at the time and able to smell it the odor.

In (approximately) August, 2011, I purchased a Tassimo Home Brewer. There was a recall due to the discs exploding in the machine. I received the new part in early March, 2012 and used it according to the directions provided.
The discs continue to explode. When this happens, HOT WATER and GRINDS SPEW from the machine. I have taken pictures on various occasions to document this dangerous condition.
On April 27, 2012, I sent an e-mail to Tassimo Customer Service with the photos and on April 28th, I received a response that someone will be in touch with me within 24 hours. Nobody contacted me so on May 3, 2012, I called Tassimo.
After speaking with [REDACTED] and providing her with the information regarding the machine (TAS2001UC/ Serial #C100230/ FD9004) I was put on hold and transferred to [REDACTED].
[REDACTED] explained that although Tassimo had sent out the retrofit t-disc holder, they recognize that there are still problems. He stated he will send us a newly retrofitted t-disc holder. Due to the number of discs that exploded, they will also be sending replacement coffee discs.
I explained to [REDACTED] that I am highly concerned about the safety of this machine - it is dangerous and that if Tassimo had already sent out retrofitted holders, why is it that they have created “newer” retrofitted holders? He said he understands my concern, but he can assure me that the new part will solve the problem.
I believe that due to the recall and CONTINUED issues, the CPSC needs to be aware of this continued problem with this product. Scalding water is a major safety issue and I do hope that the CPSC will continue to investigate these issues.

Was waiting for coffee pod to brew from my tassimo, didnt seem to be working properly and hot steamy water sprayed on my hand and part of my wrist leaving blisters, I am pretty sure they were first and second degree burns. I am a nurse so I ran under cold water and put some burn cream on and wrapped it up........but I am hoping this does not happen to someone else. This seems very dangerous. Hopefully someones child isnt using this because I would hate for this to happen to a little one.

This is a copy of the letter that I emailed Tassimo directly on December 28, 2011..please keep in mind that NO ONE EVER REPLIED TO ME. I called two times and during the call I was hung up on accidently and still never heard back. Since this incident, we put this machine on a shelf...and just tonight we were googling information on the new [REDACTED] machine and came across this information. I am really disappointed that we never heard back from someone about the replacement piece and that i had to find it by googling something different instead of someone calling me after making a report directly. My husband has a permanant scar on his side from this burn. It is horrible. thank you for your time reading this!
Hello Would appreciate any help from your management. We have owned your Tassimo Machines for nearly 3 years....enjoying it so much we even purchased one for our beachhome or simply to take even to the deer lease, vacation, etc. Can’t leave home without it! :) We purchase about 2-3 packs of coffeee per week, sometimes 4 per week. Never thought twice about the [REDACTED], until now. only because of the way the [REDACTED] places their discs, unlike the tassimo.
This morning my husband was injured making his coffee. He lifted the top just after the machine stopped “steaming” to put in the cappucino disc...which we always wait until it stops steaming. The disc shot out and hit him in his side. He said he could not believe it was shot out this fast and was thankful our 2 young boys and even our labs were not in the kitchen. I am attaching pictures of everything, he has been badly burned, enough to not want to put on a shirt, and really hurts to the point where he cant wipe off the coffee :( You can see in the pictures the coffee on his skin. We are a little scared of the machine right now, but really feel it could have been a defective disc as well.

I have had two incidents with my Tassimo coffee maker spewing hot water and coffee grounds all over when using an Espresso disc. Thankfully I wasn’t burned - but the potential was definitely there for injury. The first time was when I was camping - I assumed that there was a power surge, or something similar, as we were using a generator for power. However, the next time I used my Tassimo at home, the same thing happened.
I have not had any more problems since then.

I was brewing a cup of coffee with my Tassimo coffee maker (by Bosch) . The coffee maker was making a funny sound so I lifted the lidcto stop the brewing process. As I lifted the lid the T-disc exploded-- shooting hot coffee grounds at me. The grounds hit me in the chest, burned through my pajama top and caused a severe burn. It blistered. Two months later I can still see the red scar where thevgrounds burned me. Date was mid-December 2011. Breakfast time.

My boyfriend started the coffee machine like he always does. Inserted his T-Disc and went to the bathroom. I was in the living room when I heard the machine making a weird noise as if something was bursting and spraying. When I ran in the kitchen to look what was going on, there was coffee all over the counter, on the ceiling and on the floor. We had no idea what had just happened there. Looked like the T-disc and coffee exploded out of the machine. I only heard about the recall of these machines last week and figured that’s what happened that day. Thanks god both nobody was near the machine. I will call the company to get that replacement part for the T-disc holder. I decided to send a report anyway, since it was mentioned on the recall website that you wanted to know other incidents that may have happened with the Tassimo Bosch Single Cup Coffee Maker.

My wife was making a [REDACTED] from Tassimo about a week ago and she said when the milk was being heated and dispensed in the cup the milk came squirting out and burned her hand. I was not present when it happened and when told just thought she had done something wrong until I heard about the recall. Al tho the recall does no mention this particular one it seems very possible there could be a problem with it to unless it’s my machine that caused the spill. My machine is among the recalled ones. Her hand had red spots and was painful for a few days but we did not go to the doctors for it.

I noted the Tassimo recall tonite (2/9) scrolling on Fox news. It’s freaky because it happened to me yesterday! I was making an espresso and the hot grounds splattered out at my face. I was not standing really close to the Tassimo and I wear glasses so I had no injury. But I can see how someone could have a facial injury.
I do go on the Tassimo website-I have one of the recalled machines and was able to sign up online for the recall piece to be mailed. But Tassimo has made it virtually impossible to obtain reimbursement for the recalled espresso cups. If I only want reimbursement for one box (I have 3)-I can sign up on line. But for more than one, I need to call (currently on hold with them for over 10 minutes) and I can’t get through. The information on where to send the labels should be included in the website.

I have a Tassion TAS100 - date code 8810
I have experienced this machine actually blowing the seal on the t dics and shooting hot water and grinds all over the inside and out this machine. I have tried descaling thinking maybe it was the problem, but the problem persisted. There is way too much pressure goign through the dics when it is brewing and the dics fail. I have gotten burned by it though not enough for medical attention. I have stopped using the machine awhile ago thinking it just was not working right. this problem persisted for about 2 weeks until i bought a replacement for it.

I was using my Tassimo brewer with a [REDACTED]. I heard it make a strange noise and noticed that there was no espresso being dispensed into my coffee mug. There was a great deal of steam coming from where the t-disc is housed during brewing. I turned the machine off fearing the problem could be worse than it appeared. When the steam stopped I opened the machine to find there was espresso leaking all over. There was also additional steam built up that didn’t escape until I opened it.

My Tassimo was acting up for a while, but then this past weekend after I placed my t-disc in the holder and pressed the “brew” button, the unit started to make a strange noise and the coffee sprayed EVERYWHERE- onto my hands (which did not get severely burned but turned red and painful), onto the floor, on the counter and all over and into the cabinet underneath. It never really worked again; now when I place a t-disc it does not even recognize it and let me brew it.
