The product, in the report: Regal coffee pot (10cup; drip) model

Good evening, Report as given to [REDACTED] on 3/19/2012 Case #[REDACTED] I’m taking the time to write because I experienced a major problem with my Regal coffee maker. My coffee maker was given to me as a wedding gift and has been used for many years. The problem that I experienced is that my coffee maker started to smolder and the bottom actually caught fire after I had made a pot of coffee for guests. The fire damage was such that my counter top was burned (even though the fire was extinguished quickly). It was only because I am not one to leave a pot of any kind turned on unattended that a burned coffee pot and damaged counter top was the extent of my problems. I shudder to think what might have happened if the pot had been left unattended --possibly loss of life or loss of my home due to a major fire. I was unaware of the recall of other Regal coffee makers until I started to investigate to find out the address and/or telephone number for the Regal customer service department. I have saved the coffee maker because I feel that the company can learn from this horrible mistake and major problem with this product. Others may not be as lucky as myself and my family. I plan on contacting the Regal company and I will offer to send the coffee maker for their inspection. I will also be making a request to seek reimbursement for damages because the coffee maker and counter top are burnt beyond repair. Please do not hesitate to contact me if any additional information is needed. I will give your office a personal call during the week.
