The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No incident, no one hurt

Made Jun 23, 2025, sent to the company Jun 26, 2025, published by CPSC Jul 11, 2025

The product, in the report: RATIO 8 COFFEE MAKER https://ratiocoffee.com/products/ratio-eight?srsltid=AfmBOoq1sJ5yaezsyppL4DXl8GcKk2zZmCj6o7yD5qmw9UpMHoxb3OeK

Our RATIO 8 coffee maker consistently overheats. The machine was sent back once for a repair to prevent overheating, but the problem persists. Most recently, the machine got so hot it melted the plastic electrical plug connection and rendered the coffee maker non-functional. I was told there is ANOTHER repair needed to make the item safe to use, but hope RATIO will simply take back this defective item and offer a refund.

The product, in the report: Ratio Eight coffee maker, in Matte Black and Walnut color, with a glass carafe.

I’m reporting about the Ratio Coffee machine, the Ratio Eight. The coffee maker turned on and started brewing without any human intervention. There is no timer function, just a capacitive button on the front to turn it on. No one was in the room with the device, but it turned itself on and brewed a full pot of coffee in the middle of the night. If that’s possible, then it may also be possible for the device to turn itself on without any water in it, which could potentially cause a fire.
