The product, in the report: Coffeemaker

Caller is reporting that the coffeemaker is so light that when he pulls out the pot the whole unit moves. He feels that the unit has been made inadequate and that this poses a safety hazard when retrieving the coffee because the structure is not stable.

The manufacturer was not contacted as yet.

Caller is concerned that consumers are at risk of being harmed and that the coffeemaker should be recalled.

Made Jul 18, 2012, sent to the company Aug 8, 2012, published by CPSC Aug 22, 2012

The product, in the report: 12 cup coffee maker

coffee maker, proctor silex, model 43672 has an auto off, and power controlled by button with red light signaling power present. A designated time out the illuminated power button extinguishes its light signifying power condition is off. Problem is that hot plate remains hot so long as unit is plugged into the wall. The addition of water to unit (believing same to be un powered and cold) causes immediate steam to be expelled whale top open. Face may be exposed while this occurs. Burns possible as warming plate still hot & powered.
