The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Coffee Percolator

I have been using a Presto Percolator for about 1 year, it came with a 2 year warranty. (While i was looking for the website to submit with this report, I noticed that the newer model has only a 1 year warranty) Yesterday the coffee pot stopped working. When I investigated, I found the plug that attached at the coffee pot had scorch marks and was partially melted. I bought a new cord, specifically made for the percolator and it burned again this morning & there were burn marks inside on the plug attachments.

The cord was not only burnt, it had split quite a bit on one side and was beginning to split on the other. It caused our ground fault interrupter to trip.
