The product, in the report: MAINSTAYS ICE TEA MACHINE
MainStays iced tea maker has a power on button, but not a power off button. Once power is turned on, it stays on until the tea finishes brewing, Only way to stop it during the brew cycle is to unplug it. But unplugging it does not reset the power on button. As soon as it is plugged back in, it begins brewing again. I figured pulling the plug would reset it and require me to restart with the button. Since I did not expect it to come back on, it started peeing hot water on my counter, but I had not put the pitcher back under it yet. A great way to get burned. Pulling the plug should reset the power on button.

No one hurt Made Jun 25, 2023, sent to the company Jun 27, 2023, published by CPSC Jul 12, 2023
The product, in the report: Mainstays 12-cup Coffee Maker with 1 year warranty purchased at Walmart 06/24/2023. This is a white colored model that is supposed to brew 12 cups of coffee. IT has an easy to fill water reservoir, removable back, automatic pause & serve function, ergonomic handle, brews 12 cubs and has a non-drip dishwasher safe carafe per the product description. The product was purchased at Walmart in King of Prussia, PA. The product says it was manufactured in China and is under the trademark brand Mainstays which is trademark brand of Walmart.
Yesterday, 06/24/2024, I purchased a Walmart Mainstay 12 cup coffee maker. I followed directions and turned it on. Immediately I smelled an electrical burning smell and the brand new coffee maker smoked and actually caught fire. The hot plate also immediately became scalding hot to the touch upon plugging in the appliance. I had to take the coffee maker outside and leave it on my driveway. 30 minutes later it was still smoking and hot.

First aid Made Mar 29, 2022, sent to the company Mar 31, 2022, published by CPSC Apr 14, 2022
The product, in the report: White Mainstays Walmart 12 cup coffee maker
I bought a mainstays walmart 12 cup coffee maker in November 2021. Today I asked my twelve year old to turn the coffee maker on and the switch exploded and flew off, burning her finger and blowing my breaker. The coffee maker was incredibly hot. Im affaid if my breaker wouldn’t have blown this could been even worse resulting in a kitchen fire. After getting on and viewing reviews I found I was not the only customer this had happened to. I was not able to write a review online at walmart but needed to report this.
