The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: 12 cup Drip Coffeemaker Stainless Steel color

Had Kenmore Drip Coffeemaker model 100.40706310 ready to start brewing at 6:45 a.m. Around 1 a.m. heard coffeemaker beeping, checked on it and it had brewed already. Pushed the stop/start button to shut the power off and checked the time thinking something had happened to make it brew at the wrong time. Time was still set to brew at 6:45 a.m.. Went back to bed and heard it beeping again. It turned on all by itself. At this point I unplugged it. I hesitate to think what may have happened if the water hadn’t been in the coffeemaker. I tried to brew a pot this morning and the power kept cycling off and on. This coffee maker has only been used for 4 months. This is a dangerous glitch in my opinion that could lead to a fire. I hope this is isolated, but felt I should report it.

The product, in the report: WHITE, ELECTRIC COFFEE MAKER, MODEL NUMBER KBC12WHT (238.69327). 12 CUPS WITH A PROGRAMMABLE TIMER.

I had just made a fresh pot of coffee. When I picked up the hot pot of coffee, the handle tab broke off. The top tab that attaches to the top of the pot broke off just as I had removed it from the maker, landing on the counter top, spilling coffee on the counter top.
