The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. First aid

Made Jan 7, 2015, sent to the company Jan 20, 2015, published by CPSC Feb 3, 2015

The product, in the report: Jura Imprezza J6 Home Espresso Maker Weight 23.7 lb Width 11.2 inches Heigth 13.5 inches

On multiple occasions, while using the milk frothing function on the espresso maker, the steaming wand flew off. Hot milk is spewed all over the user and HOT steam is blown directly onto the users hand.

The steaming wand is attached to the front of the unit by a rubber connector. The connector just pops on and off, so it’s very easy for the wand to come off during operation of the steaming function. The wand will pop off at random times, so one cannot predict, or be ready, for hot milk and steam to fly at ones’ hands.

The wand will fly off AFTER I have made sure the wand is pushed all the way onto the connector AND after I have cleaned the wand to make sure there are no milk deposits clogging the wand.

I have received second degree burns from this happening. This past weekend, my daughter had the same thing happen and she also, received second degree burns to her hand.

I contacted the manufacturer requesting a repair to the unit to make it safe to operate. The only response they have provided is to tell me to purchase an additional milk frothing unit. (Price ranges from $169 to $219)
