The product, in the report: GE Cafe Series Caf with Keurig K-CUP Brewing System 22.2-cu ft Counter-Depth French Door Refrigerator with Ice Maker (Stainless Steel) ENERGY STAR MODEL - CYE22USHISS
I put a k cup into the keurig dispenser. I put it into the cradle, after it heated up I turned the button to dispense the coffee. It was taking a little longer than normal and not really dispensing liquid. It started making an odd noise and then I heard a loud pop and hot water exploded everywhere, including on me. Luckily I had pants on, but I could easily have been burned if my skin was exposed. If there was a small child or pet standing in front of it, it would have been a really bad situation. The product, in the report: G.E. Savor12-cup digital coffee maker.
I bought a 12-cup G.E. coffee maker from Walmart in May 2012. On Nov. 2, 2012 it overheated and began to smoke, leaving a scar on the pad it was sitting on. Fortunately we were in the kitchen when this happened and were able to unplug it before it caught fire. While the model number is different, this is the identical machine to the one that was recalled in 2010.
Model number of this machine: 898682
I took the machine back to Walmart but they would not exchange it as it is past their 90 day limit. I have kept the machine if you want to examine it.

The product, in the report: GE coffee maker model # 898682 -- 12 cup coffee maker
We bought a GE coffee maker Model #898682 from [REDACTED] and this morning when I got up the whole house was full of smoke. I investigated the smell and found out it was the coffee pot. The coffee pot heat plate under the pot shorted out and caused the smoke or fire hazared. The coffee pot warmer quit working after that and I unpluged the coffee pot. I got on line to check if GE was having any problems with their makers and found out that they had a recall on coffee makers model # 169164 & 169165. You need to add the model number of our coffee pot to this list as well.
Now the wife and I have to clean all the cabinets , curtins , furniture to get the smell out of our home.

The product, in the report: Black GE Coffee Maker E319586, Model # 898682
At the end of March 2012, we purchased GE Coffee Maker model # 898682 at a Walmart store. On July 11, 2012 we set a pot of coffee to brew as a part of our normal routine. Within minutes of completing the brew cycle, we began hearing a faint crackling sound and could smell burning plastic. We quickly approached the kitchen where we could see heavy smoke coming from the rear of the unit, we promptly unplugged the unit. Once the smoke began to disipate, you could smell the burning plastic smell the heaviest underneath the water storage tank at the rear of the coffee maker. We’ve not plugged this unit in since.
Our local Walmart store refused to accept a return/ exchange on this unit as we do not have our receipt from 4 months ago.

The product, in the report: 12 cup, GE digital, brown, coffemaker with programmable brew start timer
My complaint refers to my GE 12 cup digital coffeemaker (Model # 169209) purchased from our local Wal-Mart on 6/7/11. I picked up the carafe tonight to rinse it out and the handle completely separated from the glass carafe. A screw and 3 broken plastic pieces then fell out into the sink. Luckily, it wasn’t full of hot coffee at the time.

No one hurt Made May 3, 2012, sent to the company May 15, 2012, published by CPSC May 30, 2012
The product, in the report: 12-cup drip coffee maker
The GE 12-cup coffee maker, model number 898682, is defective. I bought the coffee make on April 10, 2012 at Wal-Mart. The coffee had an odd plastic taste to it, and per instructions for GE/Wal-Mart customer service, I ran vinegar and water through the coffee maker. It worked fine. This morning, the coffee maker started to smoke after making a pot of coffee. It smelled like burning plastic. I unplugged it. I tried it again a few hours later, and now it doesn’t work at all. I suspect there is a faulty thermostat. I called GE/Wal-Mart customer service and told them about it, because it could be an inherent defect. I know Wal-Mart will take care of it. But I won’t be getting another GE coffee maker. I returned the coffee maker to Wal-Mart for a full credit and bought another brand.

The product, in the report: GE 12 cup coffee maker Model # 898682, Serial # E319586 sold by Wal-Mart
After having the coffee maker for only 3 days and brewing only 3 pots of coffee, on the third pot, the hot plate under the carafe of the coffee maker over heated and began to smoke. Smoke got very thick and you could smell plastic burning. The coffee maker would not shut off by pressing the “off” button so I unplugged it and moved it outside to avoid a fire.
