The product, in the report: GE (made for Walmart) coffee maker overheated and melted the plastic housing around the plate. we disconnected it.

We have an 18 month old 12 cup automatic coffeemaker. It has the GE logo on it but on the data plate says made exclusively for Walmart. It is a model # 898682. Using it sunday it made a pot but the burner was stuck on high and it melted the plastic housing and was cintinuing to put out a very high heat melting the pot before we unplugged it.

We showed the manager at Walmart and he said there was no rrecall on it, but perhaps there should be in the future if enough fail like this.
