  1. No one hurt

Made Aug 16, 2011, published by CPSC Sep 7, 2011

The product, in the report: Cuisinart Brew Central DCC-1200 Series coffee maker, chrome front with chrome sides. Digital clock, low, medium, or high carafe temp.

I purchased two Cuisinart Brew Central DCC-1200 Series coffee makers on 04/18/2010 from Lowes department store. On 08/09/2011, my coffee maker started making loud noises and stopped brewing. This morning, 08/16/2011, my second Cuisinart coffee maker, while brewing, started making loud popping and gurgling noises. I immediately shut off the appliance and it was smoking from the warming plate with a strong smell of burning plastic. Our whole house smells of this burnt plastic. I have always followed Consumer Reports advise on my purchases and this model coffee maker is rated#1. Reading other complaints about this product, I am shocked that there has not been a recall! Thank God I was actually in my kitchen when this incident took place! Please advise as to my rights as I do NOT want a replacement or repair of this product. THIS IS A FIRE HAZARD and, apparently, Cuisinart does not agree!
