This piece described broke while she was preparing to pour coffee, coffee spilled everywhere but did not injure her. She states that she was standing far away from where she was pouring the coffee to protect herself. She realizes that the top part that is holding the top part of the handle had a very small piece which she thought would be a safety hazard. There are no injuries being reported When she tried to contact the manufacturer she said that the number Customer Support provided to her was not in working order. The product, in the report: glass coffee carafe (coffee maker)

The carafe has a plastic handle attached to it. There is a metal band around the entire bottom of the carafe, which connects to the plastic handle. However, there is a little plastic hook at the top of the handle, which could break and allow the top of the carafe to spill hot coffee on the holder.

During one instance, some of the coffee spilled out of the carafe, while the consumer was holding it. Fortunately, there was no injury to the consumer, but he believes that this presents a substantial hazard.

The consumer has been extremely cautious when using the coffee maker and he plans to return it.

The product, in the report: Cooks 12 cup, programmable coffee maker

The product is the carafe from a Cooks, 12 cup, programmable coffee maker.

I heated the partially filled carafe on my stove. The plastic at the lower end of the handle became soft loosening the metal band that secures the bottom of the handle to the glass carafe body. When I attempted to pick up the carafe by the handle, the handle slipped upward relative to the carafe and the top of the handle becane detached from the glass catafe body. A small amount of hot coffee spilled, but did not cause injury.
