The product, in the report: Cuisinart 10808 black plastic exterior coffee maker

I turned on our Cuisinart coffee maker model 10808 this morning to brew our coffee. About 90 minutes later I began to hear a popping sound and observed the warming plate turning bright red (hot) and smoke began coming from the unit. I immediately unplugged and removed the coffee maker from our home.

This is very disturbing to us as I just happened to be home when this occurred; I will often brew the coffee and then leave the rest for my husband who gets up later. I have no doubt we would have had a kitchen fire with damage to our home if I had not been present when this issue occurred.

The product, in the report: Cuisinart 12-cup coffeemaker, Model. No. DC-1100

after brewing, my Cuisinart coffee maker began making a funny noise (kind of a snapping sound). this sounded quite unusual to me so i went into kitchen to find it smoking (awful electrical smell) and the power on it had gone out. I quickly unplugged it and took it outside, noticed the bottom burner plate was super hot. Had I not been close by, I can only imagine what would have happened. The unit was 2 years old.

The product, in the report: 12 cup automatic electric coffee maker DCC1200

Caller made a cup of coffee the morning of October 10th, 2012, poured and drank one cup then went to shower.

Approximately ten or fifteen minutes later when he left the shower he smelled smoke and returned to his kitchen as he entered the kitchen the strong smell of burning plastic and wiring with a popping and sizzling or hissing noise was obvious. He saw that the coffee in the coffee maker carafe was boiling away and the heating element that normally keeps the coffee warm was just about glowing red.He removed the carafe from the heating element and unplugged it.

The caller would like for this coffee maker to be investigated and recalled as a fire safety hazard.

The product, in the report: 12 cup Coffeemaker

12 cup Coffeemaker is less than a year old.

Caller prepared a pot of coffee this morning June 8th, 2012 and while it was brewing, her daughter, who is visiting. asked her whether she had burned something. She answered that she had not.

She fixed a cup of coffee then took it into the living room.

Approximately ten minutes after caller walked out of the kitchen, her husband went into the coffee to pour himself a cup.

When he entered the kitchen he saw smoke pouring out of the bottom portion of the coffeemaker with the coffee in the pot boiling as if it had been sitting over a fire.

He was going to turn the coffeemaker off and though it may have already turned itself off but pulled the plug out very quickly to assure that there was no power going to the unit.

Then left the coffee maker sitting on the countertop while he and caller opened all the windows.

She contacted the manufacturer June 8th, 2012 and was advised that they would replace the coffeemaker with the same model but she is afraid to accept the same model for fear of fire.

Caller would like to have this coffeemaker recalled and would like a replacement of a different unit/model or a voucher assist for purchasing a better/safer coffeemaker.

The product, in the report: Cuisinart Brew Central DCC-1200, Black Chrome

We had been at home and having our usual morning coffee on the weekend. Me and my wife each had a cup and the warming plate was still on, keeping the remaining pot of coffee warm. A little later in the morning I heard a very loud hissing noise coming from the kitchen. When I went to investigate, I found the noise was coming from the coffee maker. It appeared that the coffee was starting to boil and there was foul smoke coming out of the machine. I quickly unplugged it and took the whole unit outside and set it in my lawn.

There was plenty of coffee in the carafe and the warming plate should not get as hot as it did - to the point where something in the device started melting. We worry what could have happened if I was not as close by as I was and it actually caught fire or the carafe exploded from the extreme heat. We would often use the programmable feature of the coffee maker- so it is extra scary to think of what could have happened if we were asleep at the time. This is actually a replacement unit sent to me by Cuisinart after the one we had bought in the store just stopped working.

I checked Amazon product reviews for this particular model and it looks like it is not just me- others have reported similar experiences.

The product, in the report: 12 cup Cuisinart Coffeemaker

Friday morning, December 23,2011, my wife got up at 6:00 am and went downstairs and started a pot of coffee, while I slept in for 15 more minutes. The coffee . had just finished brewing, as I prepared to take out the garbage and get the mornlng paper. I was exiting the kitchen door to go outside, when I smelled an electrical burning odor. I went to investigate, first checking the coffeemaker, then the basement and the rooms on the first floor. This took about 30 to 40 seconds. Finding nothing, I returned to the kitchen and I noticed thick blackish/grey smoke rolling out of the coffeemaker, near the warming plate or the underside of the unit. I unplugged the cord, noting that it was cool to touch. I took the unit outside and put it on the porch. On December 26,2011 I calleed the cousinart toll free number and talked to REDACTED, to report the incident. I was able to get the serial number and the model number that was molded onto the plastic bottom of the unit so she could record that information I explained to her what had happened and that the unit was about 10 months old. She said that based on the serial number, that was correct. She then offered to send me a replacement unit. I informed her that I had already purchased a different model of a cousinart coffeemaker, because I liked their product. I was not after a replacement unit. All I wanted to do was make cousinart aware of the problem, and if I hadn’t gotten up when I did, my house may have burned down. She offered me a replacement unit at least two more times, as I was trying to express my concern with the potential problem with the unit for others using the same unit. Feeling frustrated, I asked to speak to her supervisor. she put me on hold and after four or five minutes, a woman named REDACTED talked with me. I explained the situation to her and she also offered to send a replacement unit, rather than express concern over the incident itself.I explained that I had already replaced the unit, and that I only wanted someone at cousinart to be aware of the problem so they could take action as needed. I then asked to speak with her supervisor. She told me she had no supervisor. I asked to speak to a technition or an engineer, and she told me there was none available. I told her I needed to talk to someone in authority . She put me on hold for awhile, and when she came back on line, she gave me the name and number for REDACTED at REDACTED, who she identified as their REDACTED. I told her thanks, hung up, and called the number. The number rang 30-40 times with no response. I hung up.

The product, in the report: 12 cup coffee maker

On March 4, 2010 shortly after powering the unit in the on position within a matter of minutes there was a rumbling sound. She went into the kitchen and smoke was billowing out from underneath the hot plate and the glass coffee pot was vibrating on the hot plate.

The counter top in which the coffee maker was placed on has scorch markings on it. The coffee maker was unplugged from the wall outlet and it was placed outside. She contacted the firm later on that date and they offered to send out a replacement coffee maker if she sent the orginal one in. So she agreed to mail the orginal one in

While using the replcemment coffee maker on May 21, 2011 while sitting in the kitchen she heard a rattling and noticed smoke coming from the hot plate. She then started to smell a horrible odor and the coffee in the point began to boil. She unplugged it from the wall outlet and placed the unit outside.

The model number is dcc1200bw and the serial number is 91211h.

She contacted the firm and spoke with [REDACTED] and they informed her that it was a replacement unit and it was not covered under a warranty. She stated that that was not her concern she wanted to inform them of the incident in which she experienced.
