Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: This is an electronic coffee brewer. It is mostly black. It comes with a glass carafe. It has a heating plate. It has a water reservoir. Model number cf082 upc number 2235654005

    Hello. My name is [REDACTED].

We purchased the Coffee Ninja Bar http://www.ninjakitchen.com/ninja-coffee-bar-cf080/ and used it for the first time on 12/26/2015. I reached over the top of the brewer while it was brewing to reach into a cabinet above the coffee maker. While reaching over the maker, steam started coming out of the top. My hand was in the steam and I received a second degree burn on my left index finger.

I am an ER doctor, so was able to treat at home without going to the ER, but I am concerned because there is no warning label at the top of the maker to alert someone to the fact that steam would come out of the top.

pon closer inspection after the injury, I note that there are vents on top of the maker. I believe this should be marked to alert people the risk of steam coming out of these vents. I am fortunate that my burn was not more extensive or deeper than a partial thickness second degree burn.
