The product, in the report: Chefman InstaCoffee Single Serve Coffee Maker Compatible with K-Cup Pods, Grounds & Loose-Leaf Tea w/Reusable Filter Model RJ14-UB

I had just filled my Chefman single serve coffee maker with water. I had already filled the reusable k cup filter cup and placed in coffee machine. Several minutes later I was on the computer and pushed the brew button. The brewer top had been firmly snapped in place. The red light came on and the machine started to brew. About 10-15 seconds after the brewer started a loud pop like a firecracker occurred and the top lid came flying open and steam shot out. I was about 2 feet away from the machine and it scared me badly. My co-worker came running around the partition and said, “what the hell was that”? I restarted the machine and it brewed the coffee but first made clear water for a second. I am worried that if this occurs that someone could be badly burned. I wanted to commit this report in case a recall needs to occur and to document this scary experience.

The product, in the report: Chefman Instant Electric Hot Water Pot w/ Auto & Manual Dispense Buttons,, Stainless Steel, 5.3L/5.6 Qt | Model RJ16-LOCK

I purchased the Chefman brand instant hot water pot Model # RJ16-LOCK from Amazon on December 11, 2018 Recently I had a disturbing and potentially dangerous incident with it.

I filled the pot with water and plugged it in. A short while later I heard a loud sound and came back into the kitchen to find that steaming hot water was rapidly coming out of the spout and pouring over the counter and floor. None of the buttons appeared to be stuck and the only way I was able to get it to stop was to unplug it. no one was injured but I am concerned since there was the potential for injury

The product, in the report: A single serve coffee maker by Chefman

The latch on the top failed under pressure and the unit literally blew its top. A pice of the latch flew out and hit the back of my left hand hard enough to cause a bruise and swelling. Guess I’m lucky, it could have hit an eye!
