  1. No one hurt

Made Jun 28, 2021, sent to the company Jul 29, 2021, published by CPSC Aug 12, 2021

The product, in the report: BrewSense drip coffee maker Model KF7155

12/2019: The consumer received her first coffee maker.

2/2021: The coffee maker started malfunctioning. When coffee was being made, instead of coffee dripping into the carafe, coffee dripped down the sides and onto the counter and floor.

The consumer called the manufacturer and reported the problem to them. They sent her a replacement lid for the carafe. However, the very first time she used the replacement lid, the exact same thing happened. Coffee dripped down the sides and onto the counter

3/2020: The consumer reported this problem to the manufacturer. They advised her to cut the cord and provide proof that it was cut. She did as instructed. They sent her a new, identical coffee maker, directly from the factory. This replacement worked fine for approximately 6 weeks, then started doing the exact same thing (dripping coffee down the sides of the carafe).

The consumer called and reported the problem to the manufacturer again. The manufacturer’s rep. (name unknown) asked her to view the product while coffee was being prepared. She prepared a pot and live-streamed a video with their rep. The rep witnessed the problem. The rep. then offered to send the consumer a 3rd coffee maker, which was supposed to be a newer/better model. The consumer checked the reviews for that model, while on-line with the rep., and saw that people experienced similar problems with that new model. Therefore, the consumer asked for a refund, but the rep. said no.

The consumer also noted that these drip pots recommend that one purchase this manufacturer’s brand of descale cleaner. The consumer said that she descaled her coffee pots regularly, so that was not the issue. She also used their recommended brand of descaling cleaner.

The consumer filed a complaint with her local Better Business Bureau and the BBB contacted the company. Afterwards, the company decided to give the consumer a refund and she has a received a returned packaging label, to send the 2nd coffee maker back. The rep. advised her to cut the cord prior to sending it back. However, the consumer insisted that they examine this coffee maker. The rep. placed the consumer on hold, came back and told her she did not have to cut the cord and they would examine it.

The consumer has to return the coffee maker within 3 – 5 days, from the time she received the return packaging label, in order to get a refund.
