The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Coffee Maker

When I went to turn off my coffee maker, electrical sparks came out of the on/off switch. The switch is now frozen in place.

    The product, in the report: BLACK+DECKER CM0700B 5-Cup Coffee Maker Color: Black Dimensions: 7.25”D x 8.2”W x 10.75”H

This is the second time the glass carafe on the BLACK+DECKER CM0700B 5-Cup Coffee Maker broke in the exact same fashion, around the rim. The first one was replaced by the manufacturer under warranty, and the replacement seemed to be made of thicker glass, leading me to believe they may have been aware of this issue. However, after about a year and a half of use, the second carafe broke in almost the exact same way. This second break occurred while I was cleaning it, and the broken glass put a cut in my thumb.

  3. First aid

Made Nov 4, 2021, sent to the company Nov 8, 2021, published by CPSC Nov 23, 2021

The product, in the report: BLACK+DECKER 12-Cup Thermal Programmable Coffeemaker CM2046S, Silver/Black https://www.blackanddecker.com/products/small-appliances/kitchen/coffee-and-tea/12cup-thermal-programmable-coffeemaker/cm2046s

I purchased the BLACK+DECKER 12-Cup Thermal Programmable Coffeemaker on 11/2/21. I opened the machine that evening and ran plain water through the brew cycle to clean the machine as instructed. After the cycle ran, I picked up the carafe to pour the hot water into the sink. When I held the carafe back up to a level position, the scalding hot water ran back around the top of the carafe and onto my hand. I was burned and immediately iced the area. I was shocked that this happened and told my husband what had just happened. He filled the carafe with cold water and tested out what I described. The water ran back onto his hand as well. I have concerns that someone else could get severe burns - including a young person or child. I returned the coffee maker the next day due to the safety concern. This was a painful and disappointing experience.

Made Sep 17, 2016, sent to the company Sep 26, 2016, published by CPSC Oct 11, 2016

The product, in the report: Coffeemaker

I purchased a new Black + Decker 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker Model# BCM1410B, BCM1410W, BCM1410R. When I was preparing it for use, I discovered a design flaw with the carafe. The handle on the carafe has some vertical play (about 3/8” up and down). When the carafe is filled with hot coffee and you remove it from the hot plate, the weight of the liquid causes the handle to move upward and become detached from the carafe, spilling hot coffee all over the place. There is no adjustment to tighten the handle on the carafe. I was lucky that I didn’t get burned when the coffee spilled.

The product, in the report: Black and Decker Coffee Maker 6-12 cups

Black Decker coffee maker does not necessarily turn off after an hour. I have found it on 5-6 hours later after last use. It has even burned leftover coffee in pot. Model Number is 1050B Type 1
